    Hello,

I am buying parts for my EFI and Supercharger upgrade to my 2v 308 engine, actually inside a Ferrari Mondial. I purchased an AEM Infinity 3 ECU, and in the process of buying lots of other stuff.

Any thoughts on using MAP (manifold absolute pressure) and/or MAF (mass air flow) sensors for supercharged engine? I read lots of opinions at random places online and not much on FerrariChat.

    1. Car is 3 liter, 8 cylinder, and will be supercharged to 6-8 PSI.
    2. Calculators tell me this means 750 cfm or so, thus a 75-80 MM MAF is adequate
    3. A 2 bar MAP, and also air temp (IAT), is fine.

ECU instructions tell me that one, both, or neither of MAP and MAF can be used.

    Questions:

    1. I suppose proper installation of a MAF would near the cone air-filter intake (before centrifugal super charger) and if its 75-80mm is can flow enough and the flow to analog voltage conversion should span the CFM range and thus can map the voltage appropriately in the ECU. Correct?

    2. I'd think at least a MAP and air-temp is good. So, would I really benefit from a MAF as well? I have, btw, a Porsche 944 turbo as well, and in that case expert forums indicate that an appropriately sized MAF, and tuning, does benefit significantly in addition to MAP.

I see no benefit to a maf. No reason it can’t be tuned perfectly without it.

Yes, I know and he does great stuff. However, I want to do it myself....hopefully will not screw things up too badly :)

I'd suggest also if the ECU supports it to monitor fuel pressure and ethanol percentage. While not strictly needed it adds depth to the fuel table and helps greatly with proper fueling under boost. Esp when tied to O2 sensor feedback.

On our supercharger builds I use pre and post intercooler MAP and temp, fuel pressure and temp, ethanol %, and the oil & coolant temp along with bank to bank O2 sensors.
