The Ferrari 308 was the STAR of the show- they would have to use another 308 or maybe a 328 nothing newer.
(Dukes of Hazard movie used the same car a the TV series I believe. Where the car is the star, it's best not to change it)

I was disappointed the new Miami Vice movie doesn't have a Testarossa. Let's hope they don't do the same with Magnum.....Charlie

I really doubt it will ever be produced.

If they do, use a 328

Only on this website would someone say that the car was the star of Magnum, P.I. The Dukes was a show with a car as a central figure, Miami Vice and Magnum merely used the car as a part of a lifestyle, get a grip, folks!

Now KNIGHT RIDER was a show about a car with a guy that drove it sometimes.

Where'd you see this? There've been rumors of a Magnum movie for years. Last I heard, Selleck didn't want to have anything to do with a P.I. movie.

430 Spider. It gets ripped off or piled up or his gal takes it on a run to 7-Eleven for smokes, so he goes out to the shed, yanks the cover off the '08, and gets down to bidness (yeah it fires right up - it's a movie!).

I don't know what I'd like to see for a Magnum PI movie...make it look as though it was made in the era of the show (thus having the 308); or make it totally modern and have something awesome like an F430 or a 360CS.

I agree... the open-top aspects of the Super America would be a perfect modern alternative to the original 308 GTS.

They are using an F430 Spyder. Watch the trailer closely next time you are at the movies and you will see it.

Problem is why would Thomas Magnum STILL be needing to borrow someone else's car 18 years later? Last we saw, he was heading back off to the Navy. He was a officer so surely he can pay for his own transportation by now.

That's why I can't see a movie now that can maintain the same flavor that the show had. It's been too long - unless they pick up in 1988 again.

Which car to use would depend heavily on which era the movie is set in. If they're going for a more modern-time Magnum...then the F430 would probably be the pick of the lot.

If it's based solely on the TV show and the 1980's...obviously the 328 GTS.

I don't think they could script a PI action show/movie around a guy pushing 60 years old. Wasn't Magnum in his mid thirties in the early '80s? I'd guess it would have to pick up in the late '80s to be plausible.

I would hope they would go with a 328 -- '80s design, but with modern bumpers.
