Good morning everyone . . Got up an hour earlier than necessary! After reading the info on the final practice, I suspect we will be in for an exciting qualifying. Once again, Lewis tops the chart with Massa then Kimi. Renault should be stronger in this qualifying (perhaps anyway) since this is the last GP at Magny-Cours and it's their home country. It's a shame for France to not have a GP as this is where it all started over 100 years ago with "Agatha". Hope Ferrari does well but it's anyone's game again. Carol Steve, how was the 1664??
Good morning - glad to see we have our trusted captain back at the helm. It looks like maybe LH was sandbagging a bit yesterday, or that Ferrari were running very light. Lets hope that Ferrari finds some more speed. Peter
I was just reading a synoposis of the final practice and Alonso had mechanical difficulties that kept him in the garage during most of the session. He managed an eighth place. They didn't mention the source of the problem. Carol Great interview about Montagny on Inside GP - they didn't mention his having driven for Henri Pescarolo in LMP1 at Le Mans. Interesting news bit about McLaren - Lewis working out not sweating; Alonso looking like he was in the shower.
Yes, I heard Alonso in 8th. He was having trouble staying on the track yesterday as well. Hopefully this continues. Maybe he won't make Q3 Peter
Good morning everyone. I have a good feeling about this weekend; I think Ferrari is starting the comeback. Mark
end of Q1 - out are: Sutil, Albers, Sato, Davidson, Wurz and Luizzi. On top again in Hamilton followed by Kimi, Felipe and Alonso. Alonso's problem was a sensor failure.
Catastrophic damage in the Ferrari wind tunnel that I have been talking about for the last three weeks was finally made public by Jean Todt. He admitted that this incident had affected the aero program up through the North American races. The hope is that the aero program has caught up for France and that Ferrari's performance will improve today. Aero=grip=aero. Remember when Honda was doing so well last year, and their tunnel had a problem? Talk is they have never caught up. I hope that is not the case at Ferrari although my sources tell me that it is.
Good morning Mark - Yes, this weekend seems to be going smoother for Ferrari right now. Alonso seems to be having trouble and with the car trouble LH had yesterday, maybe Ferrari will take this one. How long until Q2? Do I have time to go run for food? Peter
There's ten minutes between sessions I believe, but it's better the have game day eating all planned out ahead of time. Mark
"morning Mark! Massa needs to quit going wide at Lycee. That's twice. DC out with electrical problems.
looks to me like Ferrari has the quicker car but the drivers are making more errors. Hamilton is as always damn near flawless. if FM and KR can turn a smooth lap they should be able to park the F2007 on the front row
Hey Carol, It doesn't look like this Hamilton guy is going away this season, does it? While his more celebrated teammate is mowing the lawn and slotting in mid-to-bottom half of the top-10, he's staying atop the standings. I think my funny feeling is that this guy just might win the WDC in his first year in F1. Who would've thought that at the beginning of the season?
Good morning Bryan - Hamilton is definitely here to stay - I pretty much had that positive feeling the beginning of the year. Barring unforseen problems, I think you're correct. Q2 outs = Webber, DC, Speed, Button, Barichello and Trulli. Now for the important one! Carol
FA pits - could he have trouble? This is an important race for him. He can't be happy about this. Peter
Yup - engine trouble for Alonso. At least this could be an interesting race with a lot of passing if he has to work his way through the field. Peter
smoke coming out of back of Alonso's car - wonder if it's related to the senson problem of earlier that kept him out of most of the practice prior to qualifying? Looks like FA may end up in 10th if he doesn't come back out - yipee ! ! ! go Lewis looks like possible engine problem for FA
Good morning....Yes he does, both him and Kimi need to clean up their laps if they are going to take this one. Mark
FA out! Hamilton has a chance now to seriously widen the gap. Heidfeld looks good too. This is going to be an exciting race. Peter
Alonso is out with engine problems. In 10th but if they have to change the enging could be put back to last. Life is good. Kimi, Massa and Lewis flying.
