*Mailbu fires* PCH & the Local Canyon closures.

Just as a heads up from the latest news about the Malibu fires. As any of you know when any section of PCH or one of the main canyons that connect the San Fernando valley to Pacific Coast hwy Malibu sections / Santa Monica Mnt areas will cause a horrible amount of back up of traffic on the US101 and Interstate 405.

Kanan Dume Rd - is open but when you get to PCH you will only be able to go north on SR-1 PCH
Malibu Canyon Rd - closed
PCH - from Malibu Canyon too Topanga Cny
Topanga Canyon - closed & restricted access

should you need to travel on the 101 & 405 tomorrow - give you self alot of time and also avoid it as much as possible or early in the morning would be best and the same for returning as well.

Man it is NASTY out side. There is so much smoke. I really hope this wind stops because this is ridiculous.

OK jjay, you've said that in two different posts. Enough!! Lots of folks with Fcars, have horses that are part of the family as well. Hopefully, no choices between the two have to be made because someone stayed put way longer than they should.

Im sorry to hear about the losses and it could have been a lot worse. I just wish the winds would die down and stop.

Not joking. Levity.. get a grip. There is no one here more passionate about staying safe in a fire. Its the internet learn to read what people are saying not what they are typing. Really people. Come one. I happen to be a certified Aircraft fire fighter. Went to a school in the Navy. I have been a number of fires as fighting it and its no picnic. Dont get an itchy typing finger because one person takes my typing out of context...max love for all of ya..

They needed a new one. Now the insurance company will pay for it. HAHAHAHAAA!

 

The wind seems to have stopped. What I don't get is why they stop dropping the water. You would think they would ramp it up. After all they could see where the fire is way better at night. I bet they could get the fires under control faster if they kept the water drops going at night.

I shot all day today in Topanga. PCH was closed, from the Valley side we all got in and out fine, but Pats being the only suitable sandwich place closed at 3, not staying open for hungry travellers when they did lock us in the canyon for those few short hours.

 

Its going to be a long night. Everyone stay safe and dont take chances...
