Hello. My name is Santiago, I am an owner of a Ferrari F355 that I bought broken. I have been late 2 years in repairing it. Now already it circulates along the roads of Spain and in the summer of 2010 I want to do the maintenance to it. 1.-What good oil do you recommend to me for the engine?. It had thought to add Castrol EDGE Motorsport 10W60 synthetic. Is it possible to throw to the engine the additive with teflón " Slick 50 "?, I say it because the shirts of the pistons are of "Nicasil" and the pistons are of titanium. 2.-What good oil you recommend to me for the gearbox and differential? best synthetic? Is it possible to throw to the gearbox additive with teflón? Do you know of some experience with these products?. Ferrari recommends in his book of maintenance Agip ROTRA LSX 75W90. 3.-Some problem gives if I it put air filters K&N. Somebody put on them? Fiability?. 4.-What filters of petrol do you recommend to me to buy? 5.-What liquid of the power steering is advisable to throw it? 6.-What liquid antifreeze is advisable for the zone of North of Spain?. It had thought to throw GlycoShell Diluted. 7.-Would it be necessary to check it something more?. The distribution changed it 2 years ago. Now the car is 15 years old. If you want to know the diary of repair of the car you can see it in the following blog that a friend is updating every Tuesday. "http://restoringaferrarif355.blogspot.com/". Best regards
Hello Santiago, you will soon get some advice from the 355 experts, but 2 things I would suggest: 1) for the gearbox oil, use Redline 75W90NS - this is a synthetic oil, and I can tell you that it helps tremondously with the shifting (especially from 1st to 2nd gear) 2) I would avoid putting in any additives for the engine oil (you mentioned slick 50). As for the grade, you can use the Redline 10W40 or 5W40 which is also a synthetic, but you will soon find out that opinions vary on the engine oil. good luck.
