Yup, title says it all... My major service on a 2002 360 manual is due this April (belts, etc.). I just purchased the car 3 weeks ago (without doing a PPI). Yes, I said it...no PPI. I do have all of the service records since new and they are all from Midwestern Auto Group. So I'm thinking about having it shipped to MAG next week just to make sure all is well for my peace of mind (which yes, should have been done in a PPI) Figured though, while it's there...why not get the major done then? I also saw a nice post last night on a checklist of things to have done (in addition to to what the manual said) but can't find it. If anyone has that link, please put in this thread. Anyone strong advise against getting the major done so early? I know it can't hurt but thought I'd ask.
How far do you live from MAG? Is it so far that you can't just wait the 5 months to go? I would wait until it is really ready as you won't be using it anyway for several months if you live remotely near MAG. No sense doing it now unless they are willing to give a very low price on the work due to the winter. My $0.02
Tx for the feedback. $100 round trip on an enclosed carrier that they manage from Pittsburgh. 15% on regular price. Saves a little $. Agreed...way things are going not much driving this winter. Though when there are stretches of dry roads and sun I'd love to wind it up a little.
I wouldn't worry about it if I were you until April or May. Sounds as if you won't be driving it that much until then anyway. It will be ok. I didn't get a PPI done on mine either but it was still under warranty. Congrats on the new purchase.
The belts were last done 3 years ago from this coming April. Mileage I think was about 4k miles then perhaps. Guess I'm just over-cautious about it. I just have an unsettled feeling when I'm not sure if my cars are healthy or not... It wasn't just belts I suppose - but would have given them the opportunity to inspect the car in more detail. Unfortunately there is no Ferrari authorized service center closer -- though I do realize there are places that have qualified mechanics. I was on my iphone searching this forum and came across a really nice post on what service items should be done and when -- that went beyond what the factory manual says. If anyone remembers that post and can put a link in this thread that will be much appreciated.
