Annual service around $1800 (incl. oil and filters) My usual service bills were $5000-$8000 including the "little issues" the V12's always have. I had the belts always done early since the 456 smoked an engine ... Don't think that there is much difference in Euro/US Service as long as you look at the licensed dealerships.
A standard 30K major shouldn't be more than 4-5K, depending on the shop rates. Oil changes vary, depending on the brand used. I used to pay $150 with Mobil1.
Holy criminey. If there wasn't a time to use the VERY well placed "search this forum" box on the right, I don't know what is. This topic has been covered ad nauseum in mind numbing detail varying condition, dealers, independents, parts, comparisons of work done, etc. etc. etc. Mr. Doody, myself, and a whole host of other people have topics on this subject dating back to Zeus' birthing ceremony. Search first, then when you have specific questions, ask later.
Think you are being a bit harsh on him, you might have just supplied the correct link as a matter of decency, like this: http://ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=229940 geesch rik
You dont have to respond to the thread...i have read all your other posts that have had the same response. have you ever thought of the fact that the search function here isnt that good? its not google man...you type in certain words and like 5 things come back. I thought i would start a thread that made it clear to newer members interested in 550s. Also trying to see what (if any) variations there are in pricing by region/dealer. you need to chill out...how many of your 9k posts are unhelpful like this?
JSYK, In B-fett's case, you are talking about (arguably) THE most knowledgeable FC'er here when it comes to 550's. You may proceed.
I've noticed...and i appreciate the insight he can provide. Thankfully i wont need to ask him any questions because clearly every question in the world can be answered by the search function. Ok i'm done debating it. any helpful answers appreciated otherwise sorry to have wasted valuable bandwidth with my redundant post.
Now now, people. Does someone need a hug? Should we all hold hands and sing Cum-ba-yah? Let's bury the hatchet and move on. I think Rodney King said it best when he said, " Ow ow ow ow ow ow ow ow" ketel
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!!!!!!!!!! I just called a friend and completely disrupted his meeting by making him laugh his ass off!!!!!
I'm happy to bury the hatchet...i wasnt trying to start something here but I'm not sure why people cant ask questions on a discussion forum? ok...so it takes up bandwidth if someone asks the same question but no one is obligated to read or post.
That's a great price. My recent 30K major on my 328 was a shade over $5400 -- only incidental was a bad ignition wire. The shop said that the V12s with belts usually run about 30 percent more than the V8s, so there's one data point for you. I was quoted $9300 at Ferrari of San Diego for the 328.
Yes, but isn't the point that the figures quoted go back to Zeus' birth? Prices change over time. Not a bad idea to update the database once a year. I have to agree that the search function can be valuable, but it is not perfect. It is difficult to find something more than a year old and then if you don't know to search the old archives, which newbies do not, it's next to impossible. I will once again thank all current and prior 550 owners who helped me with my purchase. Whether you know it or not, your posts were invaluable.
I just bought a 550 so I don't have much direct experience. About 4 weeks ago, I changed the timing belts and a few other small things for $3700. My understanding is this is the cheapest of the 3 typical levels of a peridioc engine service on a 550. The price quotes I heard were something like $3k, $6k, and $9k for the 15k mile, 30k mile, and 60k mile recommended services. Of course, these are just the price quotes, the actual costs will include the other things to be fixed "while we have your car apart anyway".
New to 550 game. About 4 months of ownership breakdowns none. Things that gotta be done none. Total cost = 0.00 Parts for major less than 1000 bucks. Biggest items tensioners 300-400 I forget Ricambi units, cam seal $ 15 each, T-belts $60 each, Spark plugs $100, both O-filters $50, air filters KN $50ea... My time to do it priceless!
I had a 15K major done last year at a reputable independent shop. The ones in between are substantially less involved and cheaper. The 15K was about $7100. It will vary depending on who does it and what EXACTLY they do. The best thing to do is to get an estimate from the shop, post it here and let people respond. There are spreadsheets on the site that compare a number of different 550 majors done around the country and you'll see that the prices vary widely, as does the scope of the service. But a good current estimate is to expect to pay about 6-8K, assuming nothing really major is found.
