From my perspective it isn't about whether or not to time the cams but how much the timing can change due to a belt swap. In the video the guy says the heads were removed and milled due to a valve job. That is a very different issue since cam pulley to drive pulley distance will change due to the milling and reassembly with new gaskets.

That wasn't my experience. My heads didn't have a groove machined into them. The cam seal housing had a groove to hold the o-ring.

You are correct. I confused it with the 328 I was working on.

Nevertheless, if the opinion is "355 cam timing degreed is needed when the cam sprocket (items 11/12/13/14/15) is removed from the cam" then the removal of the oring/cam seal assembly (iyems 25/26/27) requires the removal of the sprocket from the cam shaft, which then requires the cam degreeing to be done upon installation. And if you believe that you can just put everything back using cam marks, then more power to you. Do it your way.

Yes. Even put back the same there is enough play between the gear and pin that the cam timing can be slightly manipulated depending on which way it's loaded before you torque the bolt.

I degreed my cams before and after installing new belts. It's easy enough to do so why not?
