Hi Everyone, Just wondering what are the approx labor times for a major service. Say a v8 car like a 308,328 compared to a engine out 355, 348. Thanks
Swap belts only on 308: 16 hours Swap belts 308, change seals, rebuild water pump, adjust valves, 24-30 hours. Engine out on a 348/355 with basic maintenance: 36-40 hours. Engine out, 348/355 basic maintenance, change timing drive bearing and chain pads, check headers, adjust valves, rebuild water pump, change engine mounts, repair bottom panels, repair broken studs, overall cleaning, wash, wax, detail, and knick knacks: 48 hours. Anything else is extra.
Spot on guys. For a carb 308 it's a bit longer due to the carbs and the attention they need every now and again.
Thanks for the response. I've called around a few places and the consensus around me are 308, 328 major belts, valve adjustment, and full service 40 hrs. 348/355- engine out major, belts etc 60 hrs Sounds a touch high to me but i could be wrong i suppose. What do you guys think? Dealer is highway robbery.
