They're great books, so unless you're in dire need of cash, why sell?

They are part of the "Ferrari The Golden Years 1947-1967" collection which is being appraised for insurance.I don't have a record of what I paid for it three years ago, only my estimate of $2000.00.I will go back to the internet but so far have been unable to find only amounts for the standard edition. Can you help? Thanks tonga's crew

I was at Cavallino many years ago, looking at books at Carol Roush's stand, when I found an original printing of Massini's 250LM book. I was paying for it when Carol said, "And now you can have the author autograph it for you!" and she gestured to the person standing next to me whose presence I was aware of but hadn't looked at - Marcel Massini! So Marcel autographed it and Carol said "if he had signed it five minutes earlier, I could have charged you double!"

All I can say is that the standard edition had an original retail price of $300 USD when new, and can now be found in excellent condition for between $150-$200 USD. (Mine are autographed by Marcel - does that affect their value?)

As a pure guess, I suppose that the rarer, leather-bound edition could bring as much as $1000 USD. Again, I don't recall seeing a set change hands recently, so this is purely a guess.

Both you and Marcel are mean, because while both of you wrote wonderful books, you assume that others signature are worth much much less than yours.
And I can say that because I know both of you in the real world..so if you disagree you can tell me when we meet next time...

So I suggest we do a test, I have most of your books, both of you, so we do an auction for signing where everyone can participate with their books too. Like this we will know how much people are prepared to pay for a full signing ( like to the unique collector who is preserving so nicely original cars...or something like that..at least for me) . On the basis that the product of the auction is passed to a charity of our choice! Should we do that?

    Pierre,

not sure about the value of my signature -if there is a value for that at all.
The difference between the books by Marcel and me is - we wrote the book by ourselfs.
    Nick did not do that.
Furthermore "his" book is printed in much bigger editions than ours.

And - I bought my Nick Mason-book for $10 .... and he signed it later:)

But I truly believe that Nick`s signature is much more worth on an old Pink Floyd album ("Ummagumma" for example! :):)

    Ciao!
    Walter

Hi thanks for your input. Any book with a real hand written autograph by someone directly involved with the creation of the volume will usually increase its value. But take for example an autograph by Winston Churchill, JFK or Enzo Ferrari. The are countless forgeries out there as well a machine created signatures. Also signatures change over time. and can add to the confusion. I the case of Enzo Ferrari the circle line back under the last name has changed over the years and bears consideration.Don't forget there are perfectly good autographs by E.F.not with purple ink I am sure your Marcel Massini signatures positively effect the value.Keep in mind few outside the Ferrari community have an knowledge of him and so within the community is his autograph valued by most. How much it affects your editions or any edition of any book can vary with such things as the publication date and number, what is the type and condition of the binding and pages, previous owners, the relative importance of the author or whomever's autograph it is, and not to be ignored the venue of where the sale is offered. Just because one may have a genuine 18th Century bed in their 17th Century house doesn't mean George Washington slept in it. tonga's crew

use the search function of ferrarichat, top left Corner. Type in 3445 GT and you will find it.

3445 GT is owned since many years by a major Ferrari collector in North Carolina, USA. It is French blue with yellow stripe, beautifully restored by MPI Motion Products in USA and Ferrari Classiche in Maranello.
