She's nice. Low (too low?) miles. Looks great in yellow!

'You' shouldn't be looking for trouble spots, but your independent Ferrari technician who you've asked to perform a thorough PPI should.

Your offer price should integrate with his findings and recommendations. At only 500 copies made, the asking price is likely a premium. At this I will leave to those in the Ferrari market to input their opinions.

I hope it ends up in your hands.

    Nice, interior is not stock

Look for rust bubbles around windshield and get a PPI done

    I too have been looking at a post 1992 vintage TR for the past 6 months; obviously 2 choices (1) 1992 - 1994 512TR or (2) the 1995 512M.

I have struggled with the 1995 512M's value relative to the 1992-1994's 512TR's value.

Forgetting appearance (that is purely personal) I have been unable to justify the 100%+ price premium for the 512M vs. 512TR. YES, it does have a better build in some key areas (forged differential, titanium connectors, etc) and slightly more horsepower and a few other items – but up to $100,000+ more value than a 512TR?

The argument is that because the 512M had much lower production numbers it should carry a premium to the 512TR. I have pursued this line of reasoning with people much smarter than me on Ferrari things and they (the smart guys) suggest this is not a winning argument. The Ferrari’s that carry a long term “premium” had lower production numbers than the 512M and the Testarossa vintage is a very unique styling that has a more limited demand (but certainly some demand, particularly amongst people who grew up in the 80’s and early 90’s pining for a TR) The smart guys claim there is less universal appeal of the car which will limit the “collector value” of the car.

Again, don’t shoot the messenger here – I LOVE the TR, and I am trying to buy one.

This is a very long winded response to your simple question of “what is it worth” – and there are really two answers (1) current market and (2) intrinsic value. I will not be bold enough to answer #2, as the earlier part of my email should give some direction (at least based on this one guy’s basic research). The answer to #1, looking at Ferrari Market Letter and other listings, is somewhere between $135,000 to $170,000. Given the non-stock interior, your “collector value” of the 512M is likely diminished, so that will offset the plus of the low miles. If the PPI comes out clean I would lean toward the lower end of the value (this does not take into account the scarcity of product in your country – which may swing the value dramatically).

Yellow looks nice --- but shouldn't command the same sale price as a red or black car of equal condition. That said, the "M's" come to the market so rarely that I wouldn't let it slip away if it's really the car you want --- unless the seller is asking unreasonable $$$. These cars are like F40's, F50's, etc. in that it is difficult to establish "what the market price is" --- there are simply too few transactions. Recent (last few years) sales have ranged from $145K-$195K.

I do not agree about the color. When I was looking I wanted anything but red or black-hence I finally found and bought a yellow 1994 with 10K and think it's the best color! To each his own but there are plenty of people out there who want different colors then the norm.

I like yellow too. My 308 was yellow and loved it. People would walk right by the sea of red to look at it.

The very late 512TR's had the forged carrier used in the 512M.

I'm biased but I simply like the look of the 512TR better than the M, regardless of value.

Ditto, +1, me too, all that. It was hard to find a forged carrier car (mine's a 94) but peace of mind plus aesthetic preference was worth it.

The 'M' will always be special. I'll admire them at shows for their rarity.

You better love it to pay a premium for a 512M over a 512TR.

Ferrari did some late updates to get some swan song sales on a long model run that everyone knew was on the way out for the 550.

IMO-I like the headlights. But the wheels and tail lights I don't think were improvements. The mechanical updates are minor.

I'd offer low and see where it goes. I don't see people lined up with cash for this model.
