Every year French Ferrari Club member calls on all his Ferrari buddies to join him at the CEERTA race track in Issoire, France, just south of Clermont Ferrand for a day dedicated to the French Association of Paralyzed Persons.

Handicapped people come early and we spend the day taking them around the track. Many are true enthusiasts and want to ride in as many Ferraris as possible! In addition none of them are afraid asking that we push harder and harder.

Some are handicapped to such an extent that it takes 3 people to get them into a car, but the real joy on their faces is one of the best rewards one can hope for.

    This year we had 4 Challenge Stradales, 3 355 Challenges, 2 F40s, a Daytona as well as a host of 328s, 348s, 355s and 360s.

The young man in the picture with me is called Cyril and has an incredible knowledge about Ferraris. His dream is to meet the Man Himself: Michael Schumacher! As the day drew to a close he told me that he was already counting the days until next year.

All proceeds go to the Association and anyone wanting to participate next year will be welcome - just contact me! After all what better way to use your beloved automobile?

Incredibly moving and powerful. Excellent way to portray F-ownership.

That's awesome of you! FWIW, I called the local "make a wish" foundation some months ago and offered to give some kids rides in my TR and they flatly said no thanks. I find that odd, what kid wouldn't want that?

I suspect some lawyer scared them with talk of liabilities, etc. Too bad that's the way it is these days.

    Peter's story is outstanding!

A while back I asked my mom (a pediatrician) about her idea of a worthy cause. She said "kids with cancer".
I tried to organize a car rally with the proceeds (granted, only in the low US thousands) going to Stanford's Lucille Packard Children's Hospital. I had Oracle, my employer, lined up to match any donation, but the administrators at Stanford flat out told me that they were not interested to do things "on that scale".
I will still do it, but more at a grass roots level, avoiding administrative bureaucrats.....somehow.....

I would be up for something like that. Just make sure you keep money out of it. It seems to always attract flies

The PCA region I belong to has an event similar to that, we have a braille rally with the Maryland School for the Blind. Our navigators read us directions which are all in Braille so there is no cheating!! I'll never forget one of the students asking his driver what it was like to do 100mph and he says, "hold on" while he rocketed up to triple digit speeds! Defiantly a feel good event.
