Was able to obtain #271 of the mere mortals edition. Love the satchel on the deluxe edition. Nice touch. The books are a glimpse back to the evolution of the Ferrari style and Italian coach building. Beyond that they also look back to scenes and locales much in the way that Orsini, Zagari and Nye's "Scuderia Ferrari" showed wonderful racescapes up and down Italy. The scenes of the city squares with cars rushing through or on the road races go beyond nostalgia. The backdrops for many of the coach building photographs accomplish the same thing. The photographers chose their backgrounds carefully and the shots inside the workshops (some staged and some not) are milestones. A great set and I am happy to add it to my already groaning bookcases.
Wasn‘t official online, Andy created the offer for my shop checkout. Finally 34/99 find the way in my collection... Congratulations! It still looks like new, and knowing Hortons it probably is still in “as new condition” as it is possible to be. This may also explain why the one pictured on the website was the standard edition and why it disappeared so quickly.
Congratulations Christian! A great piece of art! A brand new book also interesting to the 'Ferrari minded' is this new book. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Oops... posted the Maser book in the wrong section! Must be my age... Will post also in the book collectors thread. Maybe a moderator can edit the post above?
Question. Can you please enlighten me on the production numbers and the style of editions of Making a Difference. So 99 leather covered, Schedoni satchel editions- numbered 1-99 /99 Then I understood there where 500 "standard" yellow slipcase editions- numbered 1-500 /500 But now I see there are further editions of the standard issue with book numbers over 500 ? See below... 518 Lars Theunissen 555 Jack 559 Patrick Badot 570 Ivo Pucci 591 Roger Pretoria 605 Ron Wieleba 624 Joren Remans 649 Olivier Bidaud sold to MG 663 Gert Schaumloeffel 707 Patrick 774 Bruce Sansone 776 Xander Tempelmans Plat 811 Walter Duijvestijn 823 Manfred Steinert Can someone please explain. Did they add to the initial 500 number or produce a second edition ? Thanks
Where are my hard core book experts, Mr Massini the author, etc at ? I would have thought this was an easy question to answer. You guys know everything.
Mark. I do not have a full answer and I too am surprised that no one else has provided one so far. It appears that there were initially only 500 copies but if you look at post #7 of this thread the co-author mentions 999 copies. Mine is the highest number I have heard of and is just numbered 902 (not 902/?) so I cannot be certain if there were 999 or 1000.
From poor memory I think 1'000 copies were printed. Plus the 99 leather bound copies. I have a dozen or so (of the standard edition) somewhere in my basement. Don't remember the individual numbers. My pension fund........ Marcel Massini
Thank you Robert. Yes, it looks like there were 99 leather versions and 500 standard books initially with another 499 standard copies added afterwards to equal 999. Unless someone can correct me otherwise I'm going with that explanation. Thanks
I have had thread titles changed and I have seen others be changed too. There may be an issue with changing a thread which was started with the old format of the site but I would be surprised if this could not be overcome. I suspect the reason the title has not been changed is that, despite it being discussed, no one has ever asked to have it changed. A change can be discussed at length within a thread but if no one asks, nothing will happen. It does not bother me (other than that I have to think hard about which is the correct title of the book) but if any one else is desperate to have the title changed they are welcome to report this post and use that to request a change. We can see if that makes a difference!
You may be right about the thread title pre-dating the format switch preventing it being changed, and I’m sure you’re correct about the necessity of someone requesting a change. I would not presume to do so and would defer that to Marcel or the member who posted the thread.
