plus the LP570 is not a V12 grand tourer and it's not a topless beaut and it's not in baby blue!!!? there are a dime a dozen Gallardos out there, in whatever variations but they're essentially the same thing.....the Barchetta....now try finding just one other in the whole region!!!

Hahaha. Yes, but there are not one but two unsold Barchettas sitting in their storage for over a decade which means that only a few of us appreciates such fine creatures ^^

Try selling any V12s in Malaysia is like giving away a farm for the sale of one cow :D

Offers above Rm750K will be considered by the chairman & that's just for the body. You'll have to deal with the registration+taxes later. Anyone?

If you have the cash & collects cars, this will be interesting addition as it's worth more than a Scuderia.

this is road tax i presume right? not import duty? yes true....the Barchetta will be worth around what's it bought for and might even go up as compared to a Scud....

    Jon,

I m for a v12. Yes, high road tax but get to enjoy lower fuel cost in m'sia. Try china, it s about equivalent of 4 ringgit to a liter. And the v12 is a known guzzler.

Road tax should be about RM13K/year & customs duty will be variable as Malaysia has depreciating "duty" usually halved after 5 years from import & this car is over 10years, nobody knows what it'll be but likely few hundred Ks. In fact, they recommend to Langkawi it as well.

Not sure mate but likely to be lesser? Is it 100% for new cars?

To be honest, I'm not one of those green guys so never noticed too much about fuel consumption/cost per litre. Most of my V12s give about 250km/tank of about 80L & 10-20% more for highways, the Murcie is a thirsty bugger @ 6.0L, the rest are 4-5.7L & marginally better while turbo ones can sometimes be terrible, had a Jap 2.5L running one single big Garrett & drinks as bad as a 6L NA

Can't remember the cost of petrol but I think UK/EU are also quite expensive for fuel, probably Rm6~7/L? Think a 1000mile trip from UK to Milan alone costed us Euro800 easily & another Euro600+ of toll fees, one way!

Hi Jon, I just removed the fuel filter. Part number is 0450905203, not 0450905601. I bought 0986AF8092 which is compatible with "203". "601" has bigger hole at 1 side. Not sure yours is 203 or 601. Maybe 203 for Euro spec & 601 for US spec, I'm not sure.. All are Bosch part numbers..

hi guys, the ferrari 360 modena which i organised for a PPI didnt turn out to be good. clutch life is nearing the maximum use, cam cover leaks, power steering leak, gear shift jerky, drive-shaft gone.

what a pity, i was ready to purchase it but i'm not going to be buying a lemon.

anyone knows of any owners wanting to let go their 360 modenas ?

this is possible in very limited cases here....because in malaysia, the knowledge or importance of a PPI is a very limited knowledge and malaysians don't see "a need for it".
we f-chatters or those who read a thing or two know the huge importance of it....and most sellers (mostly 2nd hand dealers) know this **** and they know they can sell a lemon/money pitt for around the market price of a peach......and they exploit these ignorant buyers.... so my advice....try reducing the price of the current one and tell the seller you're getting a money pitt and it should be considered....however most likely is that he is not gonna budge.....so, keep searching the classifieds....i'm sure you'll find a peach of sorts somewhere.....

i do agree with you. i did 2 weeks of research prior to intending to purchase the 360. i am aware of all the campaigns/recall from the factory and the known faults that the early model 360's had.

the cost for the PPI (RM530) was well-worth it. according to the head mechanic, it would cost close to 50k to get that particular 360 back to "shape".

I highly doubt the runner/dealer for the owner would knock down even 30k for the deal to go through. I just don't understand why would someone neglect such an awesome piece of machinery. Its a ferrari, not a toyota, where you can neglect it, and still run like a dream.

there are loads of young flippers in the market.......who know nothing of a car besides putting in petrol, occasionally checking for air pressure, thrashing it while going on a thrill/glamour trip and then flipping the car 6-12 months down the line for something different....they want to "feel" that particular car they say, thrash it then move on...they are merely renting the car for the period (well technically they are right since 80% or more cars are bought on hire-purchase, the bank owns it technically!!) so there isn't much need for maintenance for these temporary owners, and the dealers who pass them along the line...

Glad it turned out well for you. Well, lot of people can afford to buy these machines used or perhaps barely but then they fail to understand that such exotics always come with an exotic bill of maintenance as well though it has been very reasonable of the late models. In the past models, an engine out job would easily cost Rm20K once every 3 years not to mention 4 figure oil service every 6 months & Ferrari badged parts can be very expensive especially in Malaysia where parts are heavily taxed if properly declared.

Then we have 3rd party workshops that don't have the skills & integrity to maintain them while most of these cars are garage queens which owners delay on the maintenance so that adds to the problem. I've also heard of shops in KL that sell eg. Mobil One oil that aren't the real deal! So, some owners actually buy oil from Singapore & watch the mechanics fill it in during service. Gosh....

So, enjoy your search as this is part of the fun in hunting down the right car :)

I would be more careful with F430s as there's too many grey imports with unknown history.

we had a short drive last weekend to Kamunting for teh tarik and thereafter to Port Weld (Sepetang), essentially a fishing village off Taiping for its "bubur" (seafood porridge) and seafood....the bubur was brilliant! don't have much photos myself....so hope this would do ;-)

Hi Jon. Welcome. After changing the fuel filter, hot start is quite stable now but not perfect. It takes 1 crank for ~3sec + pressing down accelerator half way. cold start is the same. before changing it, cold start was instant and required just 1 crank for 1sec..

    Great pictures, thanks for sharing.

I was told last weekend on the NPE highway a barrage of F458s were seen flying, together with a beautiful F12, led by police outriders.

Almost brought traffic to a standstill in PJ area..
