Lewis is an amazing driver, no doubt. But everyone makes him out to be a godsend... scratch that, the BRITISH press won't stop sucking him off. to be quite honest, If I were him I'd shy away from the limelight a bit if he wants staying power. 15 minutes of fame and all... His life is going to be hell if he doesn't win the WDC this year (Raikko Raikko Raikko!). The year after, etc. What is going to happen to him, if he misses out on the WDC 3, 4 years into his F1 carreer? Especially with talents like Vettel and Kubica not experiencing the "grooming" err manipulation of McLaren since birth.

I think above all else, this year Lewis needs to win a WDC if he wants to stay comfortable. If not '08, then '09. But then, be wary of BMW. Seriously, his situation is shaping up to be quite interesting, I think in the coming decade we'll see if he's in a calss with Senna, Prost, and Schumi, or if he is just another great talent to be given the right opportunity to drive F1. Then it begs the question... who, of the past greats, was a product of greatness, or a product of great circumstances?

Food for thought, as I'm just rambling off the top of my head... excuse any run-ons or spelling errors, please.

It's pretty much always required a combination of both.

Some drivers with pretty good potential just never got to the front tier. Others got the best chance, and couldn't capitalize on it.

Kimi could well have been WDC in '03, except he was up against Schumi.

    Skill, opportunity, and luck.

Like it or not LH's dad annoying as he is I agree, is there to see him reap the rewards of his son, he more than likely give up his life to see his son do well..it may well have gone the other way so I don't blame him.

No matter how well you groom from birth , you can't polish a turd..

Clarification: Over the course of his career. Obviously the McLaren is competitive now but nothing lasts forever. As for seasoning see the end of last year. F1 is a whole nother ball game.
