Thank god, they seem to be coming back. I hear 80's songs on the radio all of the time, and occasionally look at mtv's "We are the 80's videos." God, time flies, I can't believe its 20 years later. I remember sitting in my friends basement as the cable guy was coming. He was the first kid on the block to have it. We watched videos for days...

Time to relive some memories. What do you guys most remember about the 80's? For me:

    1) Atari (? late 70's)
    2) commodore 128
    3) Early macintosh
    4) Miami Vice
    5) Madonna/ Michael Jackson
    6) Pastel sport coats
    7) The first sport bikes (ninja 900...) 1986...sigh
    8) The testarossa

Anyone else have fond memories of stuff from the eighies? TV shows? Movies?

The 80's are making a come back soon..., as that generations teens become middle aged...

    Well, I can't miss the 70's - don't recall much from then...beside atari/asteroids/ and pac-man.

The 90's were a lost cause. Thats when rap became popular, and I lost all interest in music.

Most folks relate to the decade when they were a teen. Basically your highschool years...

CMY, according to your profile you were 3 years old in 1980... I don't have fond memories of kindergarten either :).

    Rock on!

    Top gun! Great movie!

What about Risky Business! Cheers. M*A*S*H. Tron...

Quick trivia, which famous movie uttered the famous phrase:

"Want to play a game...?" Has a nice flash back for you computer geeks where modems actually involved a headset cradle and worked at 1200bps :).

Yes, and I was also 13 in 1990 and remember the 1984 Olympics like they were yesterday. I like to think I've got a fairly good grasp on the material even though my part was largely played out on the sidelines.

I hated my high school years (and not just because of the rap), there's nothing that I would like to revisit nor to I have any fondness for the decade in which I came of age. I try to look forward and remember the past (but not re-live it).

Was your life so much better then than it is now?

Life is always good, albeit busy. You are still to young to appreciate nostalgia. And I mean zero disrespect when I say that. When you are in your 30's and forties, working like crazy, taking care of a family, sleep deprived, responsibility out the ying-yang, multiple kids, a business, etc, etc. Then you start to look back fondly upon times when you had so much time on your hands, but you didn't realize it. I loved my childhood and teen years, sorry if you didn't. Everyone eventually gets nostalgic, and so will you... :). Sorry if you don't like the 80's. Perhaps the 90's will be your deacade!

I agree all but number 7). FYI, the first "sports" bikes were known as cafe racers and started in England in the mid 60s with names like Norton, Triumph and BSA. They had low handlebars, mini-fairings and rear set foot pegs and were named after their owners use of racing them from cafe to cafe.http://www.motorbyte.com/mmm/pages/cafe/cafe3_99.htm

Not everyone follows the same path and I highly doubt that I'll be firing up my 300bps modem to play TradeWars on a five line BBS anytime soon. I only hope that you don't later wonder if you could've spent more time with your kids had it not been for all the hard work getting in the way.. you can't re-visit that.

I was thinking of the first full fairing sportbike. Rice rockets. Ninja's. Etc. I believe that was the 1986 ninja 900, though I may be wrong. Bike owners had a reputation of always trying to outrun the cops...beautiful bike.

So be it. If you never get nostalgic, thats fine. If you never think back to the friends and great experiences you had in your teens, thats fine too. In regards to time I spend with my kids - don't worry about it. I assume you are not married, and in your twenties. Yes? Time may change your perspective.

Is it true that Gary Coleman was originally under consideration for the role that eventually went to Mr. T in the A-Team program?

I'd guess that distinction would belong to the Honda VFR 1000, but I don't really know what I'm talking about. ;)
