Read that one. Sad. There was the usual, "I can't believe he would do that, he always had a smile" comment from the shocked neighbor too.

I'm a silent atheist by nature, a part of which means that I believe in what I believe in without the need to cram my beliefs down everyone's mouths. Nor do I feel the need to inflict it upon the unwary with a massive and eloquent oratory that is essentially pointless in nature.

There is no god in my book....yet the unimaginable fantastic beauty of the universe is it own god; a deity without a singular presence but remains...

    But really, **** all that.

Anyone that shoots a child in the face whilst in the guise of Santa really needs to spend an eternity in the very worst level of hell. And I hope that level of Hell is a worse place that even I can imagine. And I can imagine a lot of ****ing hurt.

I mean, who in **** can shoot a child?

    This escapes comprehension. My comprehension.

Should just tell you there are a lot of angry, disturbed people roaming around. Just be careful out there, you never know who you're mouthing off to or flipping off while driving in your car. Very scary. Very sad.

If there's a hell, let's hope his skin is boiling forever.

    A lot of unanswered questions.

The news story says that they were married for about a year. What could have happened in such a brief time to spawn such an outcome?

This guy appears to be the original "Angry White Man".

Why did he choose his brother's house to die?

What was the pipe bomb for?

"Bong Garcia, another of Pardo's next-door neighbors", who names their kid "Bong"?

With everyone armed to the hilt(and even more so now with Obama) plus with financial hardships, this kind of thing will happen with greater frequency. With no prior history, it appears the guy plotted and was "crazy" pissed at the ex and her family. Not sure how that all went down? RIP to the deceased.

While this does seem to be a particularly extreme example, madness has been part of the human experience for a while now.

by no means justifying what this guy did- but he's middle aged, recently divorced, recently laid off (or fired, not sure). He just had the rug pulled from underneath him, and he lost it. unfortunately you see this fairly often, just not in such a bizarre circumstance.

Methinks we need to change the way we treat people in these scenarios....not sure how, if it needs to be "codified" (i.e. mandatory counseling, temporary bans from buying guns, etc) or just good ol' fashioned being our brother's keeper. but it seems to me that the right support at the right time might have kept this guy from choosing this path.

Remix,...how right you are. Ever since the beginning of the "gang" era when punk kids started carry guns, it has been best to be very careful about who you talk tough with. These days,...any kid with a finger big enough to pull a trigger can easily be tougher than the biggest kung fu expert when it comes to an unplanned argument.

I watched a guy in a BIG dump truck force a small car off a highway one day. The guy jumped out of the dump track with a crowbar in his hands and started walking toward the car. Apparently the car had cut him off or said something to him. Mr. Dumptruck driver was greatly underestimating the situation. Somebody in the car could have pulled out a .45 and blown him away and been perfectly legal about it because the guy was approaching them in a threatening manner with a crowbar in his hands. As it was,...the car just pulled further off the road, around the dumptruck, and then got on the interstate. Mr. Dumptruck driver jumped back in the truck and chased after them. I never heard anything in the news about the incident but such incidents can easily get out of hand. Beware!

His plan was to escape to Canada after catching the house on fire. But all the gas he poured in the house ignited premature and he caught himself on fire. Instead of being a man and burning to death, he shot himself.

    He almost got instant Karma.

Life is 5% what happens, and 95% how you react to it.

He responded to his current situation like an adolescent unaware of boundaries. No one on this planet should ever commit to such acts, for all the wrong reasons. Counseling just provides relief, that won't work in the long run. People within the US, if not the world, are in need of a major paradigm shift. Too many individuals operate from a set of negative beliefs in life, which become their habits. Which means that people are ticking time-bombs waiting to blow up on the next uncontrollable situation. This guy being a prime example, and it's truly unfortunate. There's a difference when you react off emotion vs. responding from thought. Regardless of excuses, that's how 99% of stupidity occurs. And sure, majority of things aren't good right now for some. But that changes just as fast, so trust that it will all work out OK, everything, and you will be OK....

I wonder if he had anything planned after the plane took off. Looks like a quickly improvised escape.

Seriously. An 8 year old girl?? :( I agree with wax. Kill yourself if you must, don't take anyone with you. Especially an 8 year old girl. Geez.
I also agree with everything Korr said except I believe in God. And I believe he is all-forgiving. Sometimes I wish he weren't, so that people like this could suffer for eternity

Ohhh, didn't think about that but I'll bet your right.

Sad thing this ******bag did. There was a story here the other day of a guy who beat 2 kids to death in a park with a bat for no reason at all. People are really f'd up these days.
