I agree they need to change the whole lotto scam..Louisiana advertises their lotto as true cash value which is what you get...Most places it is annuitized over 25 or 30 years. Some guy in TX that thought he won $4mil was upset because he actually won $900k which was winners portion due to horrible sales. I would be upset too I suppose, like agreeing to work for $500k/annually then finding out you agreed to $130k/annuallly minus taxes.

But anyone see the building collaspe in NYC yesterday? The owner of the building was going through an very, very ugly divorce with his soon-to-ex and called her a gold-digger.

 

The house (or whatever it's called in NYC) was ~$6mm. How does this deal with the lotto? Did he win it when they were married?

Yes, she would have been entitled to a portion of the winnings. He may have bought the ticket, but in a marriage the law does not see "his" money and "her" money until it's time to divide it out after a divorce is finalized.

What's even more sad is that she could sue him for a portion of the earnings now and force him to spend a bunch of the cash defending himself. She may not win, but she'd cause him to spend a bunch of money just the same.
