    Let us say that you just hit the powerball and decided to build a world-class collection of Ferraris. Which models would you consider to be the "gotta have" cars that would make your collection comparable to the great collections of the world?

    For me it would be the four late-model supercars:
    Enzo
    F50
    F40
    288 GTO

    Plus a few of the great older cars
    Daytona Spyder
    250 GTO
    250 Testa Rossa
    860 Monza

    With an unlimited budget, what would you collect to create a world-class Ferrari collection?

    For one, I'd have to add a Lusso to the list.

    Well with an unlimited budget, i would get every Ferrari I could get my hands on! I would get doubles of most.

    Everything from 308's and 328's to 250 GTO's and Enzos would be in my collection :)

    After that I would get all the other desirable cars that I want too, I'd name them but theres too many, anyways people get the idea :)

    Mclaren F1, Enzo, F50, F40, and 288 GTO at the very least.

    But since this is fantasy stuff, let's go all the way:

    Each LeMans winner... not the type of car... the actual winning car.

    It all depends. Some might go for a range. One from ever major model designation:
    A 166 or 212 or something else pre-250
    A 250 SWB and/or TDF
    A 275 GTB
    Daytona
    Boxer
    some of the moderns

    But, if it were me, I would stick with the 250s and 275s, and that would be it. I love them.

    It's all what you are looking for. Most of the people here would probably be with you - Enzo, F50, F40, 288 GTO. But, I like them older. If I am ever in the position to be a collector, I will have one modern car, and the rest would be older. I would continually trade in for the newest replacement, but that would be my only modern car.
    Honestly, I'm reasonably obsessed with the F50, so I'd probably get one of those too :)
    But, in all, I would rather have a bunch of old racers than a bunch of new supercars. Just personal preference.

    Its your money, buy what ever floats your boat. There are lots of different flavors of Ferraris, each with their own pros and cons. If they don't excite you (and not the rest of us), what's the point of collecting them?

    A serious collection has to have an 8c Alfa Romeo and I guess a Bugatti Type 35. Not sure what Ferraris really, but more than one and atleast one 250 series.

    For what it's worth:

    - 250 GT Pininnfarina Cabriolet Series I;
    - 330 GTC;
    - Daytona Spyder;
    - 308GTB (fiberglass);

    Again, (as previously mentioned) there is no benchmark model that HAS to be in your collection, but rather it's what turns your crank that should be in your stable.

    While the money (and garage space) may be unlimited, my time is always limited. And, I wouldn't want to buy cars to sit in a warehouse and rot away.

    So, that means practically not more than 4 or 5 cars...

    456GT 6-speed (awesome daily driver)
    500 SuperFast
    365 California
    250GT/L Lusso
    365GTB/4 Daytona Coupe
    550 Barchetta

    OK, that's 6 cars, but I figure the 456 doesn't count, since it will be my daily driver.
