Daryl, awesome story and a beautiful car...I'm glad you got to fulfill your dream!! I am a HUGE fan of Giugiaro's work and hope to someday care for a goose myself. As for now the only Giugiaro I own is this...although they are strikingly similar in some aspects.
    Best wishes

They certainly are. Many times I've been out in the Mangusta and had people who know nothing about cars come up to me and ask, "Is that some kind of DeLorean?"

That is a great story about the origins of the car. Also some great photos of the factory and the early Pantera. Funny how regulations often have unintended consequences as well.

Hello Everyone I purchased 8 MA1256 at RM in Phoenix Jan 15.The recent history of the car is: A 30000 restore was done in early 2000's and car advertised for sale in 2005 for 45000 OBO. The restore included a very nice silver paint job still on the car.The car was purchased by Tillack Co. in 2005, apparently for a client.Tillack did a mechanical/cosmetic restoration which included rebuilt engine,transmission,suspension,brakes,clutch,steering,frame,cooling,heating,A/C,electrical,full interior including front trunk. The car was basically disassembled , reconditioned using OEM new parts where availble.I have receipts from Tillack Co. for 177,910.49 for the work done. Therefore 208000 restore work has been put into the car since 2000. As previously noted restorable Mangusta's are currently selling for 65000+ .I also have 8MA542(European 289),8MA822(USA 302 in restoration),8MA1136(USA 302 pop up headlite car),1963 Italia (car no. 5 of the 14 original Frank Griffith cars),1972 Pantera 02222( 225000 in it),1966 XKE coupe,1964 XKE roadster.Jerry

Well, not totally original , it has vintage Corbeau racing seats ,a rotary compressor, missing smog air pump, and A/C condensor was relocated to the front of car. I'v since relocated it back to rear in its proper location. The interior was redone in 70's disco kiesch fuzzy stuff everywhere but all panels not cut or modified. Will redo all in leatherand looking for original USA delivery style seats which interestingly are much like the Corbeau's. Even has the original panel inside the passenger front wheelwell covering the windshield wiper motor and has the cover over the radiator/fans(you know those items the mechanics of yesteryore never reattached after working on the car). So who remembers the Sports Car Graphic series of articles on the Mangusta? They tried to work on some of the flaws but eventually gave up.

I heard a story that the very last Mangusta built was for one of the Fords (Edsel?) after the Pantera was in production. The way I heard it all Mangusta production had bee stopped for a while but one more was created just for him.

The Mangusta is one of the greatest exterior designs.

I think that was white one, not a yellow one. It seems we have been discussing a lot of red ones on Ferrarichat.

The one at ft.Lauderdale sale was white low mileage supposedly sat for a while. See the other thread on Italian cars (what did this mangusta sell for?) Got about right price plus for a restorable car. The yellow one at Hyman I sold to Mark and Shaun about a year ago and it sold recently per Shaun for near 80000 It was a decent car and they finished it up pretty good with A/C and spare tire etc.Dont know where it went.Jerry

Indeed the car is bizzarrini 0248.. The car i was after..to get the bizza, we had to buy his dismantled mangusta and his iso grifo targa.. I had to sell the mangus and the iso straight away to finance the bizza.. WHICH I LATER SOLD BECAUSE I MADE A HUGE PROFIT! such an Idiot! ENGINE now i am trying to work out how to get a bizza again.. But i could simply not afford lunch when i had it.. HAD to sell.. BUMMER! the car is the one here under barnfind bizzarrini.. But the guy claus, who i dont know exists, tried to hype it as a corsa which it is Not.. Never raced in its life..z ciao e auguri.. Niklas sweden
