The lug nuts are Pantera replica lug nuts too. The "dome" is shallower.
Well it kinda goes now that Mangusta's with original wheels have more or less appreciated by $10k. The new bar has been set. Just sayin'
Do you really think so? Parts are always worth more than the whole. Wouldn't availability of the new rims lower the value due to availability. I understand if your going to Pebble you need original, but for the other 99% a good aftermarket rim should work fine.
[/QUOTE] No harm since neither were included in the auction. But he did include a rather expensive set of new XWX tires mounted and balanced. Sure makes me glad my Goose has all of its wheels including the spare AND a set of XWXs. Just need to do the restoration now.

Which ones? I have seen a Mangusta with the same Dunlop race tires as discussed on the "Orange German " car page, and they looked GREAT
....I went with the Dunlop race tires as they allowed for a larger diameter profile than the xwx Michelin's filling out those rear wheel wells...AND there was a skinny but same tread pattern spare size seen in the photos..VERY expensive, but after years of patience to think about it while I chased a wheel set, the BEST option out there! Any rim with 4 holes in it will "work fine".I have a set of front and rears (without tires) in nice condition that I previously valued at 12500 . Buy them now for only 16500 . Why would one put after market rims on a valuable collector car whose values are going up?
Well it's similar situation for Iso and Bizzarrini's, there just aren't many rims left, so a replicas of the original wheels are acceptable. I am not talking about some Jessie James bling bling set. It appeared that that earlier in the thread there was a good replica being made, plus they are much safer. There were a lot of casting flaws in Campy rims back then too. That combined with incorrect restorations makes many rims dangerous. Can you tell the difference? Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Mang, we're all waiting for photos of your splendid Mangusta, shod with its proper Campagnolo's. And you should spend a little coin to have some really good, hi def photos (with proper lighting) taken. Yours is, after all, one of the outstanding Mangusta's extant.
Mang How about dusting that Mangusta off and bringing it down the hill to the Serrano event in October? It's a great show and there should be a nice display of vintage Italian cars. It's located in El Dorado Hills CA just north of Folsom. We can test our Ford power out. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Find a 'sponsor' to come pick it up carefully in an enclosed transport and I am there! ...serious, would something like that be possible? it is in 'non-op' status, but still 'op's'
It all works fine, but I'm not logging miles driving it, so would need to be transported. I honestly never want to bother, but i understand it would be nice if people could see it. I was thinking return to Concorso some year soon where it came to fame!
indeed, very kind of you to offer for sure. Gonna target Concorso down the road... serious though, appreciate the offer
Scoop! I know of a new Mangusta deal just gone down! Stay tuned for info. on apparently a car with little to no prior public documentation! Cool!!
I assure you, I am not 'crying wolf'...details are coming soon! I even have photos!! Out of respect to the new owner, I'm just gonna leave ya hangin' 'till he puts up those freakin' photos and gives details!....aaaaaarrrrrgggghhhhhh
OK I won't keep you waiting any longer, I purchased a very original car that needs a full restoration. Can't wait to get started... Image Unavailable, Please Login
The restoration has started I have removed the body from the chassis. A lot of work ahead, I am a bit worried about finding a set of original rims. Image Unavailable, Please Login
