today I got an awesome surprise - went to the DMV to renew my license and parked out front, WTF is a gorgeous red Mangusta. I waited around to meet the owner, Steve B. (he owns the only other Goose in my town, so he followed my home to see mine), photos of said reunion this represents a full 1% of the world population of Geese! ps....we BOTH need a set of original wheels...aaaaaarrrrrrrrggggghhhhhhhhh! Two pictures of a local Mangusta. Owner says there are two others in the area. I sat in the car. It was quite a process to get seated. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Beautiful!, Amazing!, Cool! and every other adjective that can be thought of............good for all you guys and your beautiful flying machines.
still putting together a set of original rims for my car..been hunting for close to a year now and so far have one rear and one front....is there anyone out there that can part with (ideally two more front's - one for the spare and one rear)? I am waiting with cash Thanks for any consideration
do you mean custom replica's or something or do you mean having them re-cast in Italy using the original factory resources....because both have been approached and discussed. Steve Wilkinson (Wilkinson Wheels) is constructing oversized original looking ones I believe and there was some discussion from DeTomaso family about re-casting new ones....Being half way there right now, I really just want to score two more (perhaps three) originals and be done...it will take some time for sure :/
I'm glad to hear you're looking for a set of original wheels. The current ones don't look right. ps I have noticed someone keeps clicking on my Mangusta photos on flickr which I find amusing. It is #2 in all time popularity behind a group of GTAs.
link me to those photos, if you haven't already done so, I would keep on clicking I would like to see them
Might be me. I'm trying to figure out where the heck everything goes on my Mangusta after it has been apart since 1974. Actually its not me, but I would appreciate any links. Forget about all them arsty shots, I want pics of the doorjamb wring and how the harness goes over the side of the gas tank! Image Unavailable, Please Login
There is a link to the photo in one of the first few photos in the thread. I had forgotten it was there so I'm sure it is just people reading the thread.
does anyone know the location of 8MA-930. It ia a 1970 pop-up headlite. silver outside green interior. thanks ppp
I finally secured a set of original Campy's.....my goose has an impressive tan and brown interior, I was thinking powdercoating gold? (would go with the interior), I normally don't like gold wheels, but my powdercoater does phenomenal work and with gold and clear coat, might just be spectacular.. opinions?.. oops didn't renew and can't post photos, please go back and see photos of my goose and then opinionate
they would look SUPERB imo my only doubt is: did they came that way? never seen a goose on gold campagnolos

Does anyone know a link to good photos of the 1st prototype Mangusta(glass sunroof and larger rear wheels)?? I am working on a project and need more good photos. Most of the websites I have seen only have poor quality photos. I have several from books and old magazines. Tom Tanner/Scale Designs/Ferrari Expo 2010 model/photo contest-Chicago April 2010
http://www.fantasyjunction.com/cars/818-De%20Tomaso-Mangusta-Ford%20based%20302c.i.%20V8 Surprised this has not been mentioned already, but if anyone is interested in a Mangusta, here is one for sale. According to the Motorcar Gallery in Florida, they have one inbound as well. No connection to dealers, etc. Neil
I read on the Alfa bb (so you know my source, didn't confirm it's validity) that the Fantasy Junction Goose sold at RM auction for $68K recently... Tom Tanner check your PM
Tom, do you have "Italian Cars" magazine #2 (1990) with the picture article about the Mangusta prototype?
No I don't have that issue. Does the car have a glass sunroof?? Thanks, Tom Tanner/Scale Designs/Ferrari Expo 2010 model/photo contest-Chicago April 2010
Yes, it has the glass sunroof, it's the metallic copper color, it has the external fuel filler on the right rear engine lid, and it has the full width rear bumper, plus it's wearing a rear "license plate" that reads "Mangusta Prototipo". It's a 12-page article with 15 color pictures
