Sold quickly? It was listed at least twice, maybe more, and there were no ebay bids with a starting bid of $250,000. If it sold it did not sell through ebay but privately.
Was first listed on 5/12 and ended on 5/19. Was then relisted and quickly sold thereafter at near ask. Most likely a PPI somewhere along the line in that process. Today is the 28th and it was sold a few days before this post. Must a car sell overnight to be considered quickly in this market?
It is not listed as sold on ebay with zero bids and it is still for sale on the dealer web site: De Tomaso
Cars in this price range typically don't get sold/bid through eBay; it's more marketing, as you already know. My info is per my conversation with the dealer.
I see the green Mangusta ( 8 MA- 890) sold at RM for 268 Euro. At present classic dealers are finding it very difficult to source solid investment cars.
I might spell it wrong but it was the Southebys auction. Indicates where Gooses are going, and to think you can find the V8 engine in most junkyards, try that with a Ferrari V12! they might drag other DeTomaso cars up, iike Panteras, Deauvilles and Longchamps
This looks like the Mangusta that was at RM in Monterey a few years ago and then later at Fantasy Junction. Not many in that color.
Yes, I was bidding on that car despite my best instincts. The car itself is not bad at all, but I just prefer 4 headlight cars and the color just sorta doesn't grab me.
Never seen this particular car before. Was at the Eyes on Design car show in Detroit today Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
It is a custom version built for Eugene Bordinat , styling director at Ford in the late 60's VeloceToday - Online Magazine for Italian Car Enthusiasts! Mangusta, DeTomaso Mangusta, Eugene Bordinat
correct, the gentleman with the car was explaining the bumpers, etc. and how it was really Bordinat's baby I worked at Ford briefly in the late '60's early '70's and vaguely remember seeing the car parked in Bordinat's parking spot, but only saw it from a distance got a much closer look at it today
That's OK it is his car so it was him. I know him from the VLG club and there was a big email discussion about getting his exhaust system ready for the show during the last month. He plans on having the car at Monterey as well.
As I am sure you know, the "Bordinat Car" was an excuse to create an exercise in a DOT approved Mangusta. What you may not know is that the front bumper is not only Italian leather, but the original Italian leather!
