    My Bad...
I took it he was not insulting the H2, cars do not have feelings.
But yet he had to be insulting the owner of such.
    What car do you own,
let me try to degrade it for you...
the comment really has nothing to do with the car IMO, it was an underhand insult at the driver..
In some countries gas is still 45 cents per gallon...Are the H2 owners Shmucks there as well.
Some people really want a large car, I am not Fond of the H2 but I would not insult you for owning one.
    Lets drop it already.

Spoken like someone who's never owned one, nor driven one off-road, nor done any serious wheeling in their life...

Debates rarely change opinions, but I'll leave you with this. I have done a fair amount of serious wheeling in my life, most of it behind the wheel of built rock-crawlers, 40-80-100 series Land Cruisers and a Defender 90(that I wish I'd never sold)....oh yes, and your venerable H1. They all have faults, but you're drinking too much of the greenie's cool-ade if you think an H2 won't won't hold its own off-road. You're also drinking too much if you think the H1 is "the only real Hummer" or that it's without faults. I've seen H2s in action at Tellico and Rubicon and they perform well. I've wheeled with H2s in some pretty hairy places and they held up fine. Stock for stock, precious few vehicles are as capable right off the showroom floor.

I don't adore the H2, but I respect it for what it is and respect them enough that I'm looking at parking one next to my Land Cruiser. When they came out, I didn't care for them... It wasn't until I started researching and spending time wheeling with owners and getting heavy into wheeling myself that I developed a respect for them. Most of the information out there about H2s is MISinformation.

I'm a car nut....I like em all....4x4s, exotics, American muscle, luxury cars...I just real tired of the "you need to justify your purchase" and "it's a piece of ****" crowd...why anyone would possibly concern themselves with what someone else drives is beyond me...if it puts a grin on YOUR face, I'm never gonna question why you own it

    Drive on. :)

Fair enough, i HAVEN'T driven an H2, but i HAVE driven off road... We have a huge ranch in east africa (mountains of Uganda) and whilst an H2 may 'hold its own' it probably wouldnt last any longer than a japanese land cruiser.

Dont blow things out of proportion.. I only said the H2 is not as rugid as the H1... nothing against the owners, or people who do like them (why do i care what one's opinions are? do YOU honestly care about mine? :) )

At anyrate, i do agree with you that the whole "justify your buy" is abit worn - but some do need to justify what they purchase especially with expensive items like vehicles of this nature. This guy (frank) just has a strong bias against suvs.... if he insulted an owner of an H2, he did it implying that suvs are "bad" to drive/own... His ideas are driven by whatever experiences hes got, so i dont judge him for them. I also dont judge you for being wrong about my driving experiences off road.

I will have you know that in the early 90s i took a Rubicon from the states to Uganda and it held on quite well to be honest. its lightweight, flexible and cheap to run.... an H2 on the other hand would not do very well in a place like Uganda for example (where the off-roading entails skill, more of the time.) Let alone, and H2 would be more costly to run than a Rubicon, wouldnt it. . . .

with my experiences on off-road, these are the best vehicles in order:

Toyota Land Cruiser Prado (lexus gx) *j-spec* = LR Defender (any model/yr) > Toyota Hilux *j-sepc* (variation of the "4-runner") > Mitsubishi L200 *pajero pickup* > anything else considerable.

Used "j-spec" because the japanese versions are imported directly to uganda - hardly any euro-spec versions, unless they are privately imported.

Nope..that would be my wife. FYI, against my wishes my wife bought an H2 years ago when they first came out...she grew tired of it after only a few months due to its small interior...its like a lot of people, big fat exterior but too small inside.

Does the market on these large SUV's continue to lead to some cheap prices on lightly used luxury SUVs? May be in the market soon.

Charlie Rose had GM CEO rick Waggonner on a couple of weeks ago. Rose asked him about the low prices on SUV's. Waggonner stated that the difference between trade-in and depressed selling prices is still enough that dealers are still able to make good money off of them.

So I guess when the salesman starts crying the blues about how hard they are to move, he is probably just a little full of BS.

Seems they are playing off the hysteria and offering incredibly low trade-in.

We just bought a 2008 Escalade ESV loaded $20k off of list ($55K). Saleman was happy and told us he sold several this week. At least it will get my family safely home and a TON more comfortably the a Range Ruster .

I think all the "Bad Press" that they are currently receiving is making it harder to sell them and yes, I believe there are some pretty good deals out there. What particular luxury SUV's are you considering? I think (from what I've seen) that the best deals can be had on the H2, Escalade (or Tahoe/Yukon) or the Range Rovers.

If you're considering an H2 I have an 06 that I would sell now. I described a page back in this thread. The truck is great but my wife is intimidated to drive it (actually, to park it) so I'll probably just get something a little smaller. Let me know if that's something that you might consider, it's definitely a 10+ condition wise and only has 14k miles.

    good luck.
