So in my eternal quest to get a working exhaust manifold without spending $4k, I'm going to try (again) to repair the (new) crack that's formed in it...("tick tick tick tick tick...")

Anyone know a good _really_ good shop/welder/guru in the tri-state area that can do this in relatively short order? I'm not looking for someone who might be able to kinda patch or kinda maybe try something, I'm looking for an expert welder who can make cracked metal whole again and who won't take 2 weeks to do it. Preferably someone local so I don't have to waste time shipping, etc.

    Thanks guys!

TTperformance in saddle brooke a guy named George Benson can probably do it for you. He is an awesome welder and i am sure he has seen worse. Keep in mind he can only fix it if its reparable, but if its fixable he can do it

Noah, if you haven't seen it, get it from Carbon. Our own Dave Helms had an article about this in the FML. I'm afraid that you might be pissing up a rope by staying with the OEM headers.

I've heard similar things from other people as well....but I really don't want to spend $5k on Tubi headers put the car out of commission for several weeks while getting the OEM ones reinforced or fully rebuilt, so I'm afraid I might have to stick with OEM for now...

The problem is that the OEM equip may break again. Apparently, Ferrari did not use high enough grade steel. <Heavy Sigh>

Try Kooks in LI, they built my header for my TVR and are considered one of the best in the country. They can build new headers for you as well. PM me and I will be happy to give you there # and who to speak with.

Russ or Thom an weld it -- if it can be welded.

Did you call HG about the headers to see what their price is?

i would ditto that... kooks makes a good product. or they could even fabricate you a header if you dont tell them its for a ferrari it might only be $3000 to fabricate new ones :)

Called Kooks just now and I'm going to bring the manifold by their shop this afternoon to have them take a look. I had to tell them it was a Ferrari (they asked what car it was for and I wasn't thinking about the Ferrari Tax), but they seemed shocked when I said the OEM parts would be $8000 for both sides ("We can custom-make 5 sets of headers for you for that price). So $1600 wouldn't be bad...

i was going to tell you that in PM if they can custom make 5 sets for you noah, make a deal with them where you'll gurantee them 10 sets if they give you a set for free and you'll give them yours as a mold :)
