Other than a cable looped at the end located (sticking out) in the driver's side rear arm rest, is there a piece that goes over it to make it somewhat more obscure/less obvious? Not sure if it's supposed to just hang there like it does in mine... This strikes me as more of an after thought over the excellent engineering that came about in the rest of design of our cars.

For what it's worth, mine is '85 400i and know that it may not necessarily be present in Series I cars. I would appreciate other owners chiming in. I am tempted to hide it behind a tweeter enclosure in leather that could be made to fit that area? Can someone advise if indeed a piece may be missing and post pics of theirs? Has anyone created an alternative solution to theirs in not having a wire sticking out within the interior of their Ferrari (even if they came that way)?

I know longer have mine, but I remember that it was even hard for me to find mine. If I remember correctly it was located in the drivers side rear seat tucked away in the hole next to the armrest..Not just hanging there. Im sure someone will chime in shortly..Maybe you can take a picture of yours and can tell you if that is correct or not. See the picture and notice that you do not see a trunk release.

My '83 has a loop of cable sheathed in clear plastic sticking out of a hole in the armrest storage nook. I like this choice of function over form.

Same with mine. Not really visible unless you are really looking for it.

Put a bend on that cable if it's sticking up.

I'm just relieved to know that it's not missing a piece that otherwise would cover it and I can now begin purchasing all the parts I feel need to be replaced during the restoration of the car. Thank you all for your input.
