Manual vs. F1, Why?

    But remember too that the 355 trans was designed for a stick and retrofitted with the f1 solenoid. The 360 was designed the other way around, for the f1 with the stick retrofitted via cables. The 360 still has normal shift pattern, etc. so not dedicated to the f1 like BMW's new M5 trans, but certainly setup with it further integrated - actuator closer to pump, reservoir, etc. If they were designing it for the stick primarily they probably would have it enter the trans on the other side with a rod. So, it seems Maranello has made up their mind in regards to future direction. I'd be real surprised if the manual disappeared even in the replacement for the 430 though. Way down the road, but I don't see why they don't design the next car (454 or whatever)for the same bolt pattern as the 430, then they could offer a dedicated 7sp F1 and install the 430's trans in manual which they are already tooled for, and only have to design one new trans.
