Question, I keep reading there's a way to manually wind the headlight motors if they are stuck. My drivers side light is stuck in the up position. I've already tried swapping the big fuses from left to right to check to see if that was the issue and it's not. I've got a motor replacement on order. But in the meantime, I can't take the car out as it sits, and would like to manually put it back down until I can get the replacement motor here and installed (which will be fun having to take the frunk liner out and prob the bumper off I'm assuming. here is what I can see to access. Where is the manual winder everyone keeps talking about in the older threads on here? Image Unavailable, Please Login
It's that wheel/knob in the lower right of your photo that you need to turn by hand. You may want to use the battery disconnect switch to isolate the battery before turning that wheel just in case the motor comes to life while you are hand cranking down the headlight.
Ok I appreciate that. I cranked on that and it didn't seem to do anything. where's the battery disconnect switch? I know the battery is under the passenger wheel well. I've got comfort cables run to the back of my car engine bay for a tender.
Either the plastic gears in headlight motor/gearbox have failed or you're just not winding it enough. You need dozens of turns to reposition the headlight pod. The battery disconnect switch is under one of the small carpeted panels in the frunk. (EDIT: I see you've already moved it)
