Guys, I'm a newcomer to FerrariChat. I just bought Jevs yellow '96 f355 Spider that he spent the last year refurbishing. AFAIK, he's fixed every known 355 issue and then some and has documented them all here on this site. However, there are a few things I still want to tweak, mostly cosmetic (like the front bumper). I have electronic copies of the owner's manual as well as the service manual but there is almost nothing in any of them about repairing/servicing/adjusting the basic body or interior elements. I'm looking for such things as how to remove the door panels, seats, access the dash speakers, remove the tail light lenses, the front bumper, adjust the grill, adjust the front fenders, replace/adjust the parking brake warning light switch (sticks on), etc. I can probably fumble my way through this stuff but it would be a lot easier if I had some pics or diagrams and instructions to help. Is there another manual that I don't have? If so, where can I get one? I also wouldn't mind having hard copies of the two electronic manuals I do have. I'd like to know where can I get these too? I suppose I could always print them out from my files but I'd rather have originals or something a little better than print outs. I'm also looking for a high quality copy of the OEM black leather top cover boot, door sills that won't rust other than carbon fiber and all the data plates that go on the two side covers in the engine compartment. Any help here would be appreciated too. This car also has the silencer removed from the round engine intake air duct just upstream of the two air filter's "Y" connection. Its my understanding its only function was to kill a resonance noise in the intake at some specific frequency as the engine wound up (anti-phase hemholtz resonator?). Is this worth putting back on? Does it really quiet anything down? Thanks in advance for your help. I'm told you can find out just about anything on FerrariChat. I'm sure I'll learn to appreciate that! Jerry
True - and there's a search function that would yield All Ferraris as a source for alsorts of pdf manuals and will generally help find the answers you seek
Jerry, Welcome to the forum and life with a 355. As for the silencer there are many of us that have removed it and I see no reason to put it back on. "Does it really quiet anything down?" I can't tell but one thing is for sure the engine bay looks much better with it gone. I'm not aware of any one source that answers all the questions you have and I doubt if one exist. I can tell you that you'll be able to get all your questions answered as they come up by the wonderful people on the forum.
It's tough being an old geezer and not growing up with computers. I've tried to download a shop manual for 348 from allferraris, and it seems to go into RAM, but I don't know how to print. It took 5 minutes or so watching the bar move from left to right, but all that shows on my screen is the grey page with the bar. Any advise appreciated. Maybe it's God's punishment for buying a 348?
Hey Jerry welcome to the club! I see you are in KC, there are a lot of guys in town that like to get together and drive and wrench on our cars. I have books if you would like to come by sometime and look through them or if I can help in any way let me know. The club meets for breakfast the first Saturday of the month at the Sheriton hotel and convention center on college blvd. just east of metcalf. Starts at 830. I'll pm you my number.
If you are using Window7, be sure to select "Save-As" on the bottom window pop up and then you can save it where you want, open it and print it.
