This is a bit of a continuation of this previous thread:

Ferrari F1 Alone at Rules Meeting

The other teams have now met with the manufacturers and they seem to be moving ahead with their plans for a break away series. Also of note, the term “Formula One” also seems to be a viable series title as Bernie’s as rights are specifically for the FIA world championship. (More on this here)

    And: http://www.grandprix.com/ns/ns14273.html

"They are deadly serious," said one of those present, who preferred to remain nameless. "It was incredibly thorough. They have done their research and unlike the previous presentations this was a whole new league. It will affect different people in different ways but it is really dangerous now because there is a viable alternative. There is a strong desire that there must not be two series, but we have a situation that is the biggest danger that Formula 1 has ever faced. The FISA and FOCA war was a small fish compared to this. There are five big manufacturers and they want their voice to be heard."

Thoughts? (I'd made my views plain in the previous thread and feel this just moves to confirm them)

The F in F1 stands for Ferrari, not Formula. Give it some time. You will see all the smaller teams come and beg to join F1. :)

It might as well be Ferrari alone at the rules meeting. Its time that the champions have full control over the rules. It was absolutely retarded in 2003 and 2004 when Eddie Jordan had a say in the rules. In both the years his team would have ended up higher in the Championship had he kept his mouth shut and kept the old rules.

Anyway, the GPWC can only attract teams based upon a promise to give more share of the profits. IF THERE ARE ANY PROFITS IN THE FIRST PLACE. Where does the money actually come from.
    - TV Audiences
    - Ticket Sales
    - Sposorships
If the GPWC does not have TV audiences like F1 or Ticket Sales like F1, then there won't be any money to attract these so called "rebel" teams.

The first team (after Ferrari) that cuts a deal with Bernie is probably going to be Renault, Williams or Sauber. The GPWC is nothing but a pipedream. Its easy to talk the talk. But when the time comes to actually form the new formula series I doubt McLaren will have anyone but themselves in it. I also highly doubt that those McLaren's will have Mercedes engines in them.
