I'm a fairly new F-car owner and found out today how helpful others can be. Thanks very much to Luke K for all the help today!

I took Luke up on his F-Chat offer to swap a drive in his classic 1963 250 GTE for a drive in my '95 F355. I met him at lunch today and just as I pulled in the parking lot I got a flat tire on the rear of the Spider ( I suspect that one of the tire-damage spikes at the parking lot entrance did not retract into the ground, since the puncture was a good inch wide and fairly clean and obviously recent). We had to put our swap-drive on hold and then, being a true good sport, Luke helped me over the next couple of hours as we got the tire fixed. The flat could not be fixed by the compressed air bottle/fixer that is standard on the 355 - I discovered it sucks to have no spare and no jack.

But no flat-bed tow truck for me! Luke was kind enough to put the 250 GT to work. We drove to his home to get a jack and lug wrench. We drove back to the parking lot. We jacked up the car, took off the wheel and put it in the trunk of his classic 12-cylinder! He drove me to Wheel Works (thanks for the patch guys!), Luke even bought us both sandwhiches, and drove me and my patched tire back to the parking lot to re-install. Now that our time had been taken up, I had to drive off without ever getting Luke behind the wheel of the 355 Spider. I felt bad that we couldn't get to the fun driving we wanted to, and I realized that not too many people get roadside assistance from a 1963 Ferrari!

Luke, you are a gentleman and a scholar! I look forward to getting you out to Danville to drive the 355 around...that is, if you can stand to put aside the new Maserati for a few minutes.

Very kind of you and you are welcome ! The flatbed would not clear the garage ceiling, anyway, so you would have had to drive on the rim. Argh....

I felt bad that it was probably the construction near my work that caused the flat.

Good luck with an ebay search for the jack. Do not forget to call up the king of the toasted ponies (Tom Shaugnessy).

And since I am out of the closet now, here is the new Maser. Just have to wait for the Passport guys to get it here (I tried Intercity, an FChat sponsor, but they could only do a 4 weeks from now pickup). The dealer I bought it from called my blufff when I oferred roughly half the original MSRP for a car with 3600 miles and 2 years of warranty. And yes, it is a 6speed. I kept hearing about the 18K maximum clutch life on the Cambiocorsa, and I could not deal with that.
I am thinking about the license plates for this 390 hp beast:
    MASRARI
    F430+2
    L BSTIA
    L MNSTRO
I will probably go with random numbers....
    :)
