I moved to Bordeaux, France a year ago, with my 550 Maranello and my UK insurers no longer want to provide cover this year. Does anyone know of a good Ferrari insurer, who will provide comprehensive cover for a UK registered car, low risk driver with no accidents, claims, points for the longest time? Thanks.

If they'll insure a 20 yr old on a 430 or something (see the other thread) Michael Ward might also be flexible for a 550 on an extended visit to France (returning for MOT renewal of course)

If you have moved permanently to France with the Car I think you should have declared it to the French authorities and had it transferred to a French reg within 6 Months?

If you move house you're normally allowed up to 1 year to re-register a car.
But Mark's right, I think you will struggle to "correctly" insure the car in France on UK plates.

I can't answer your question with regards to someone to use but I do know of plenty of people with english registered cars in Spain that have had them for years. They insure through Linea Directa. Maybe they have an equivalent in France. One thing to remember - the car will need to return to the UK every year for the MOT. All the people I know in Spain with english cars don't bother. I am pretty sure if they ever had to claim the insurance company would tell them where to go. Try to find an insurance company that does a yearly green card. (Norwich Union used to I think) I'd also plan to put it on French plates in the future as it will make life a lot easier.

Thanks everyone, I will try all suggested companies. So far I have returned to UK to tax/MOT the car. Although I appreciate all the advice, and particularly one about being lower profile with French plates, since the car is right hand drive, it would need to return to the UK for resale at some point and I was trying to avoid the hassle of re-registering to French, back to UK. I've been pretty careful and only picked up one 90 euro fine on a radar trap on my way down last year, luckily just under 100mph on an N road. You do have to be careful, but the roads are heaven and I have to salute the French gendarmes, who were super polite as they relived me of my euros at a conveniently located cash point.
