monkeying around in the registry…. I guess “chiaro” means “light” in Italian? 106104 is a euro 1996 blu chiaro. 107 916 is “Rosso chiaro”
My 308 GTS was Rosso Chiaro, the red you see on many early production Ferraris of the 70s, and 80s. Affirmative, Chiaro is light and Scuro is dark. Blu Scuro would be navy here.
Well that is pretty cool. https://www-mecanicus-com.translate.goog/buy-car/ferrari-550-maranello-bvm-configuration-unique?_x_tr_sl=es&_x_tr_tl=en&_x_tr_hl=en&_x_tr_pto=wapp “Vendue” translates to Sold with 67k km. If it wasn’t already sold…I can’t justify 2 but that’s super unique. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Today those front 19” Modular’s hammered on BaT at $3,650 plus fee for the two fronts. Man that seems like a deal. @henryr @Qksilver @Chupacabra I’ve got a lot of guys BaT handles tracked…not sure who Ferrariguru is here but if I was him I’d be very pleased. https://bringatrailer.com/listing/pair-of-19″-ferrari-575-modular-wheels/ Edit - Looks like he buys and then releases a lot across the models. Hopefully he won’t ever find a driver quality set of luggage in Sabbia….and let me know ;-)
Great deal on the wheels, but they would not fit my brakes. Would have been worthwhile just to have them to trade later. Each wheel is worth what the pair cost.
I considered bidding, but 1) I would only be interested for completeness - I actually waaaaay prefer the look of the base wheel and 2) where in the world am I going to find a set of rear wheels anyway?!
if it was just one wheel I’d be interested in a front as a spare. To Terry’s accurate comment maybe I should have bought them and then kept one as a spare and then offered the other to one of us that also would like to have a spare for “damage insurance”. Last time they made a set of these I asked to buy just one front and he wouldn’t do it. https://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/threads/finally-solving-the-19-575-modular-wheel-shortage-problem.561848/
I'm pretty sure the buyer is @mathewr. I have no immediate need or use for the wheels since my 575 already has them, but because of that I figured I'd store them and just play a waiting game until I could assemble a full set as a backup. But figured there's no point in driving up the cost if somebody else has a use (either for their car or to make some money). He did say he has the rears and that this now gives him two complete sets... so anybody looking, ping him!
Correct, I did win them. I have the rears already. I have about 5 people asking me for a set so this one go quickly. I also have another set but I am currently looking for a 575 to buy and put them on. Anyone have a good 2004/2005 575 F1 for sale? I’m in the immediate market.
Italians being Italians, Chiaro also means Clear - the root of the English word is evident; so you say "Chiaro" if you are clear about understanding something..and Chiaro and scuro are powerful terms in classical Italian painting techniques. I always think Blu Chiaro means more than Light Blue; Clear Blue suits it more. But it does also mean light blue, Italian being more artful than English.
I don't recall if the 599 also has modulars? It's almost like a tease to see that manual shifter handle.... #SexySexy I wonder if your 575 was one of the first ones in the US that Fabio sent over?
Eric- No modulars for the 599. Standard pentagram wheels, optional Challenge wheels, and HGTE wheels that were part of the HGTE package, but available from the parts department for mounting. Many owners with 599 GTO wheels, too. 599/HGTE/SA Aperta Five Spoke F 19”, R 20”, 5 X 114.3 mm Front 8J X 19 ET 43.5 mm, Rear 11J X 20 ET 63.8 mm Challenge Monolithic 20”, 5 X 114.3 mm Front 8J X 20 ET 43.5 mm, Rear 11J X 20 ET 63.8 mm HGTE/SA Aperta Five Spoke 20”, 5 X 114.3 mm Front 8.5J X 20 ET 40 mm, Rear 11J X 20 ET 63.8 mm 599 GTO Five V/Ten Spoke 20”, 5 X 114.3 mm Front 9.5J x 20” ET 38.1 mm, Rear 11.5J x 20” ET 63.8 mm
Congrats! I am glad they went to someone who can make a whole set. I had flirted with the idea but having just finishing inventorying my wheel collection of over 40(!) wheels, I am pretty sure my wife would kill me! I only have one fully OEM factory non-HGTC set though that was original to the 575 and now serving split duty on other cars.
C- Took me five years for the modulars to grow on me. She came with the 18" wheels and I next fitted Novitec NF2s. Then found about the last set of new HGTC modulars out there for around $10K.
That’s one way to do it? the cost for all that interior fabrication (if farmed out) would be SO expensive. The customer niche for that car has to be tiny. Will be fascinated to see what that sells for….will it be “no reserve”….that could be scary.
