:) thought that might happen. Ask any brit who watched F1 at the time, they'll pretty much share my view.

I watched it at that time too, still have the entire season on tape. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, one person sees it different than another. That's what makes talking about racing and stirring things up great!

So is Nico, (and so was Damon, and Jacques, and JPM), we will see how he does this year, now that he's had a year in it.

Glad you took the remarks with the right intention - its fun to stir things up once in a while.

On Marco, It'll be interesting to see if he runs more test time, but 2s off klien's pace isn't exactly stunning.

I think its a pity that the next American to test in F1 is "the son of the son of". At least Scott Speed came up through the ranks. The real feeders for F1 are still F3 and GP2 and neither series features here. The path in the US is to Nascar or Champcar/Indy, not really to F1.

Lewis Hamilton is the first british driver I've been excited about for a long time. I place David Coulthard with Michael A :) and Jenson B will never quite do it IMO. Even Damon Hill was very lucky to win a WDC. Right time right place and all that (and I was there at Suzuka in '96 waving a union jack when he clinched it).

This site does a very good job of explaining Michael's failures in detail. It wasn't quite so black and white as him being "rubbish", but he did blow it.

You seem eager for him to fail. Why so?

Interesting link - hasn't modified my opinion particularly :) , but the article is right that the press and TV at the time had a field day. The sheer glee at knocking America and Americans that there is in Europe right now is reminiscent of this. Not something I like when I visit.

Keke Rosburg, Nigel Mansell were the two drivers I enjoyed the most to watch.

I think more importantly, Lewis Hamilton is breaking, or at least cracking, the race barrier by being the first Black man to race at the pinnacle of motor racing.

I too find the American bashing distrubing..especially from a continent that would be speaking German if not for the battles and lives won and lost by our fathers and grandfathers. Further, if Europe doesn't get its act together soon it will be a third world Muslim continent in a couple of decades...or less.

Real Comedian !!! Remind to laugh!!!

No because they made racing fun to watch! Not like some of this boring stuff going now. Nigel was like a switch when he was on he could drive, when he was off forget it. You never knew which Nigel was going to show up, that made things interesting. I saw Keke race a Formula Altantic car at Hamliton Canada (only race there),every time he came out of the last corner he hung the rear end out (remember when cars did that) and his rear tire was just inches from the wall and sometimes nicking it almost every lap. Keke's drive at Long Beach when he spun that's another, his race in a non points race in England (when they use to have those) against Danny Sullivan was another. The blisters on Keke's rear slick were the size of baseballs but he still drove Balls out until the tire blew. Coming in is losing staying out he had a chance to win it. Thats the kind of stuff I'm talking about.

    You are a real original.

Are you in 3rd gradeor something like that?
    That was really stupid.

I think far too much is made these days of an athlete's skin color. So what if he is black? The only question I have is can the guy drive the wheels off a race car?

Look at the media circus surrounding Danica Patrick. She has yet to win a race or even demonstrate any kind of consistent speed yet the media has already annointed her as the next great thing in racing. I am sure a lot more people know who Danica Patrick is in the US than know who Michael Schumacher is, all because of a fixation on her gender rather than her "skill".
