I would appreciate some clarity on the part no. for the ignition module in my Australian delivered 85 308QV. I have found confusing information. The part no. on various web sites lists the module for the 308QV as 118451 but this is cross referenced to a MED 803A. An alternate part no. is sometimes listed as 118961 but I have no confidence that it refers to the 805A. Is any one aware of what model the ignition unit MED 803A was used in and what the correct part no. for the Med 805A is.

I am looking for a spare 805A and I wanted to be sure of the part no as suppliers often require this. I guess I could see if it is stamped on any of my existing units. Thanks all

    Yes, what Steve said...

And, they are NOT interchangeable ---- if your car came with 805's, you need to replace them with, and only with, 805's. And, I wish you good luck in finding one --- "rarer than hen's teeth".

Your units will be clearly identified as either "MED803A" or "MED805A" on the Magneti Marelli label on the outside of the cases (assuming the labels haven't been removed).

    Hi Lynton

I'm in Melbourne and own a 1984 308 QV gts (Oz delivery-ex Adelaide car!).

Part number for an 805A is 118961(For both, straight out of my Genuine 308 QV Parts manual). Hope this helps and good luck in finding one. Let us know if you do!

    Cheers

    Pete

My database shows the MED-803A as Ferrari p/n 118451, Marelli p/n 64834080, and the application was 82-85 Euro QV (Or non-US models.)
    The MED-805A was Ferrari p/n 118961, Marelli p/n 64834170 and was for USA 83-85 QV's.
    Hope that helps.
