I will miss watching Mario.............in my eyes, he was equal to Gretzky.

When I was younger, growing up in Montreal, my dad used to work with the assistant coach for the Quebec Major Junior league's Verdun team. He used to get tickets to go and watch them play all the time. This is when Pat Lafontaine was playing for Verdun, and was a superstar in the league. This was also when Mario played for Laval, which is the town that I grew up in. Very often, the 2 teams played each other. It was not uncommon for both Mario and Lafontaine to get 4, 5, or 6 points each in a game. One year, their teams played each other in the finals at the Montreal Forum. My dad got seats right next to the penalty box, ice level. It was incredible!

I will never forget seeing them play for as long as I live.

He should have stayed retired after the last time he decided to retire.

    He's my Idol.
He was my motivation while I played Hockey, until some years ago (they closed the skate location) and the other 2 are really far from my home.
He's the GREATEST HOCKEY PLAYER from my point of view.

He has arguable saved the Penguins organization twice. He is certainly a credit to the league and to Pittsburgh. When he was healthy, he was amazing to watch (a certain stick-between-the-legs goal comes to mind). Almost all of the hockey greats from my childhood have retired. He was one of the great ones.
