Apparently - back on June 7 - Ferrari contacted Mark Webber about a potential seat with the team.

Two days later, they would re-sign Felipe Massa.

Would it have been a good move for Ferrari to poach Webber?

Here is an article on the issue. http://bit.ly/bshUWj

Webber has waited his ENTIRE career to get his hands on a championship level car. He is relishing this opportunity and is obviously making the most of it (unlike other drivers I could name).

Newey has almost always given his teams an aerodynamic advantage...

Webber is NOT leaving the TOP car...he has had to wait too long for this opportunity...he has had to endure being lapped in mid-field cars for the better part of a decade ;)

I myself am amazed how well he has done is the thick of a championship challenge and I have always admired his courage and fighting spirit.

He's not going to leave a championship capable seat at Red Bull to play No. 2 to Alonso... that was never going to work in a million years...

    Oh, dear god, no...

Weber is going to kill someone before he wins a title, and not in a Ferrari please.

its my rossa corsa glasses and all... but I would take a seat at Ferrari before the red bull... red bulls car is fastest for now... but look at ferrari... its FERRARI... that is where every driver dreams to be...and its not like they are some fly by night hit or miss operation... they will be one of the fastest cars on the grid again.

Don't forget the 27 year cold streak...Mclaren and Red Bull are the top 2 teams, which was very clear last year and this season.

    +1...

No point wasting time in an disorganized team, when you have an option to race for a winning team.

27 year cold streak?, I must have missed that one!.

    As I recall Ferrari's record:
    WDC
1979: Jody Scheckter World Champion with Ferrari
2000: Michael Schumacher World Champion with Ferrari

    Gap between Championships: 20 years

    WCC
    1983: Ferrari World Champions
    1999: Ferrari World Champions

    Gap between Championships: 15 years

In the Drivers Championship in the the intervening years, Ferrari's results were:

    2nd: 6 times
    3rd: 4 times
    4th: 2 times
    5th: 4 times
    6th: once
    7th: 2 times
    14th: once

In the Constructors Championship in the intervening years, Ferrari's results were:

    2nd: 7 times
    3rd: 4 times
    4th: 4 times

Whilst there were some extremely bad years for the Tifosi during the intervening years, Ferrari's record could have been worse and even during the poorer years, drivers still dreamt of driving for the Scuderia!.
