+1 *If* true...... It seems the originator of the story is Germany's ABM, which IIRC is hardly Autosport news (Florian?). Then it was picked up by a newspaper that's not exactly the Times either. That Mark told Sky Sport "the ball's in my court" and "there's plenty of time" lends a little credence I guess, but he could just be playing the usual head games. We'll see - I'm not convinced. Cheers, Ian
Why?? Has Kimi already re-signed with lotus or is RB just that stupid? Hopefully it's just a rumor...
Its good for the sport as it allows the #1 drivers on other teams a chance at getting on the podium. Matter of fact there sould be an FIA rule that sez the #2 drivers have to be at least a half a second a lap slower that the #1. RBR and Ferrari are already in compliance.
Why leave now. Top team and the new cars will be interesting. Never know if Webber suits the new car more than Vettel. Good for him!!
If he stays, it tells me all I need to know about his character. He's openly said more than once that he won't play second fiddle (yet he always does). This seems like the perfect chance to give them the one finger solute and ride off into the sunset a bad ass.
Best car, crazy for him to move elsewhere. Would Vettel want an unknown commodity as team mate ? No chance. Good for Mark, hope he signs. Quickly.
I'd think that Vettel's extension means that either he or Kimi said no. Aircon is right, who else is there. F1 drivers can go to LeMans any time, esp someone of Mark's caliber who's plenty fast enough outside F1. Might as well keep driving the fastest F1 car while they're willing to pay him to.
Dieter has always been a big fan of Webber; recall their one on one meeting after the multi-21 incident. I bet he offered Mark the 2014 contract based on that (plus his results aren't bad; 3 WCC in a row = $$$) I also wonder if they don't want him taking all of the Adrian Newey knowledge to another team.... Either way - good for Webber. Kevin
Why wouldn't they keep Weber around? He's a good driver. He's not SV, but a good, solid driver. Besides, who else would they want to be their number 2? He has his little pity parties every now and then, but the guy gives it his all. That's something I appreciate. Mark
I heard Newey was after Massa next year for his aerodynamic shape and low weight. Now they have sorted out TC they just need someone to hold second place trophy at race end. Massa is the driver of the future, ... Now!
There are those times that team principles know more about their team than us in the peanut gallery. Shock and awe.
And I believe that Porsche will have a few bulls on it: http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/108307
