What do you guys think the market is right now for a May '07 build slot for a 599? U.S. car. Thanks!

150K- 200K over is current market.

But that is on cars already at a dealership. I don't know of any dealers that have available build slots.

Are you planning on selling your build spot? Have you already spec the car out?

I would think that it would be worth the same or slightly more because you get to totally make the car yours, although I guess these prices are coming from people who want the car NOW so maybe a bit less.

    why, are you selling?

Sorry guys, not selling a slot. Was looking at taking one. Essentially trying to decide between the 599 or the Aston Martin DBS. Doesn't sound like much of a contest, frankly.

    There is no contest there.

SVAS sold a 599 recently with, I believe, 500 miles for $500K or there abouts!

I have been told that the premium is on average $150K-$200K.

All depends upon how badly you want the car and what you think that extra investment would be worth in the future.

Frankly for me it's the purchase of another piece of real estate.

Did you get a feel for the cost on that DBS and when it would be available? IF the cost is significantly lower you could get that for a while and wait until the 599 does not come with such a premium.

I dont see that being anytime soon. The F430 has been out for several years now and there is a still a demand/premium for one.

Yeah I agree. The key being SUCH a premium. I believe at one point it was over 100k

Buy the DBS and don't be a fool and throw MSRP+ $200K down the drain. This car will be a $150K in 5 years.

But if you gotta have it, pay up!

what color was it? Year? Did you catch what the sticker was?

That seems like a "good" deal compared to some of the other prices I have seen.

This sort of relates to the order process... your 599 was early and you had a choice of steel or carbon brakes? When did the carbon brakes become mandatory? What is in the 'America Package' now? Thanks

If you practice medicine like you talk about cars, you probably have saved many lives. I've always gotten behind certain people who can do the premium thing. They take care and, after a couple of years, I buy their low mileage cars. My former 360 and my very dear 575M speak well of that philosophy. 599GTB. I'll be there. Thanks for some great logic.

Speaking of "lives" -- you have one... If you have the money waiting may not be the answer to the question. Best

Found 'em. Absolutely gorgeous. I love the color. Only issue is it may be a little too conventional for me...my dealer tells me that 20-30% of the cars are being ordered in this color. Would you guys kick me off the board if I went for light blue? I saw a 575m in light blue a few years ago and it was incredibly stunning and unique...I think the 599 would look even better.

Yes, I know that my resale value would take a big (huge) hit if I did this...

    Johnathan,
get what you like. Thats my advice always and especially if you are paying a premium then I say you get it exactly as you want it. I have no judgments on the premium either- its just a way to get ahead.

I am planing to order a 599 in the fall-winter (thats when my spot comes up) and my original plan was some silver variant, but on Saturday I saw a 430 in Pozzi blue and I am now thinking of doing a 599 in pozzi blue/ sabbia. If you have not seen this color do a search. Its kind of dark blue but will lighten up in bright light. If you know BMWs, it kind of reminds me of their "carbon black" from a few years ago. I always loved this color.

I personally do not love really light colors on the 599 except perhaps for a light silver. The lighter colors do show the lines more but I think for some reason the darker colors fit the 599 a little better. I also think the really light blue colors, not the electric blues like tour de france blue, but the light blue colors suit the more rounded, more gentler styled previous generation cars better. But- but- but- this is just one man's opinion. Since you asked I am sharing it. If I saw your light blue 599 on the street I would not say "dear G-d, what a disaster!" Id be happy for you- its a wonderful car.

Btw- between this and a DBS- Im with everyone, its not even close. I think the DBS styling is taking the DB9 in the wrong direction- its overcooked.

    best regards,
    Jerry
