    Hello,
I'm looking at getting a Fulvia, it's a neighbor of mine and he has owned it for a long time. I don't know too much about the car; it's in excellent condition, no rust, Series 1, needs nothing... red.
There don't seem to be too many of these out there and I don't know what one goes for. What is the market on these? 6-15K????
I will try and get more info.
    thanks,
    etip

Really, a Fulvia for sale up here? I had a Fulvia Coupe and a Fulvia Berlina 25 years ago. I know I paid less than $2000 for the Coupe, and less than $500 for the Berlina. I don't see any reason why a standard, Series 1 Coupe, should cost more than $5000, but I haven't seen it (it IS a coupe, isn't it? Not a Zagato?). If it's a 1.3 HF it would be worth more, if it's a 1.6 HF it would be worth lots more.

I really enjoyed running my Coupe (mine was a 1.3S imported from Italy), I thought it was the perfect size for a day-to-day driver, there is probably no other car that has better visibility. The long shift lever looks funky, but it's about the same as an early Volvo, very easy to operate. The build quality isn't remarkably good, e.g. the trunk lid and hood are very "tinny". And of course they rust horrendously.

Good luck! Any pictures to share?

    Edit: Just like this, right?

    Jeff,
Thanks for the info. Yes, it's a red series 1 coupe, just like the one you pictured. It's not on the market yet, it's a neighbor of mine's. I'm not what engine it has, I'll find out. I am looking at it as a daily driver. IT's VERY clean.
I believe the owner wants 10k for it, there aren't any on the market, so it's hard to know if that's right. Seemed a little high.
I'll find out more and let you know...
    thanks again,
    etip

Yes, 10K is a LOT for that car. It would have to be in new condition.

    Things to watch out for:

Rust in floors and sills. The particular danger area is the front subframe mounts (rear of the front subframe). If it rusts there, the subframe rocks back and forth as you get on and off the gas. Nasty to fix.

Wheel bearing noise. The bearings have become very expensive, and require special tools to replace.

Head gaskets. Watch out for oil in the coolant.

Front transverse leaf springs. They tend to sag, giving the car a nose-down look. Very difficult to repair/replace.

    Rusted out fuel tanks.

    Noisy front axle CV joints.

    Leaking carburetor/manifold spacers (vacuum leaks).

The car should be a type 818.130 (1.2 engine) or 818.330 (1.3 engine).

Like everything, they have gone up a bit in price. 10,000 doesn't seem to be excessive if it's in good shape. I was looking at a restored Series 3 1600HF that was 25,000 from a dealer. (Not a Fanalone by the way, that really would be a lot more).

ok, thanks for all the info. I'll be sure to check all those points.
I see there is one in Hemmings, owner is asking 16k for it. We'll see what the one I'll looking at looks like under closer inspection.

Great drivers car the fulvia. Don't know how much bearing it has on price over there but here on the right side of the atlantic 10,000US would be a VERY good standard 1.3s Coupe. As well as the mechanical bits and pieces Miltonian mentioned, the interior needs to be in good condition. Replacing the headling is a pain and many little trim pieces are hard to find now. They are great cars, a bit slow from the take off but once you wind them up they fly.

Here's mine old 1.3s. Swapped it for an Alfa Zagato last year. Pictures aren't the best I'm afraid.

I love old Lancia's, but I would have reservations about using a Fulvia as a daily driver. Parts were getting difficult to find in Italy 15 or 20 years ago for late Fulvia's...Is this Ray Segale's car by any chance?

    Cheers:

    Thanks for the kind comments.
Fulvia is a great everyday car. I drove mine from april-november for about 4 years admittedly in good weather ;) Heavy rain is a problem, those door windows are big and typically the window seal doesn't seal properly somehwere around the edge. In cold weather they take a while to warm up and if you leave them standing the fuel pump takes an age to prime the system. They need to be exercised.
