Any opinions on the current market value of a 1998 355 GTB with 27k miles in Red/Tan with the 6-speed transmission.

An undereducated guess would be $85k??? If it were a GTS it would be ideal to me. Sounds very nice though.

I swore there was just one for sale in the classifieds (might still be there) for $78k not too long ago. I believe it was sold however after contacting the seller.

Edit: It didn't have a price listed, so disregard that figure. My apologies.

If it had a recent 30k service I would list it at around 85k unless your in a hurry to sell.

Thanks, that's the range I was thinking. Just wanted to make sure I was in line with current market trends. 355's appear to be all over the boards right now.

Sounds a little high to me. I would say $78,000.

Those prices all seem on the high side to me, and here's why: I'm trying to sell my pristine 1995 red/tan 355B with 16k miles and the major service by dealer with belts, tensioners, and new clutch at 13k miles in Oct. 2004. My price is $74k and no takers yet. I'll be happy if someone proves me wrong by buying mine for my asking price, though! If interested email me at [email protected] and I'll send photos, etc. Car is in Carlisle, PA.

Unfortunately, it is going to suffer because it is a '95. Now matter how you slice it, the valve guide issue will haunt the car forever. Even if they have been done, doesn't seem to matter.

It's like the stigma of the 348... logic doesn't apply.

Given some recent experience (last month) I am thinking about $80-$85 depending on all the small details which become huge things.

    1) Recent serice
    2) Complete service records
    3) Have all the major things been done already or is there impending issues (cracked headers, shrinking leather, bubbly AC controls...)
    3) Even been painted
    4) Clean car-fax

If your car is super clean and has all the history to prove it I don't think 85 is out of the realm. A lot of people will pay a premium to find that car without a "Story"

    Good luck!

    Details... (Red/Tan, 1998 355 GTB, 27k miles, 6-speed, Tubi, K40 front/rear, Ferrari OEM receiver and CD changer)

    1) Recent serice
next major due in about 1 - 1.5 yrs based on miles/time

    2) Complete service records
all service records and books and tools complete since originally sold.

    3) Have all the major things been done already or is there impending issues (cracked headers, shrinking leather, bubbly AC controls...)
receipts to show both cats replaced, one header replaced, no leather issues
(it's a Berlinetta and always garaged), very minor console bubbling, some sticky interior pieces that I have been working on cleaning, no valve guide issues.

    3) Even been painted
    original paint, glossy and clean

    4) Clean car-fax
clean carfax, no accidents or stories

That really sounds wonderful - $85 would be very fair for this.

Valve Guide Issues are NOT limited to '95s.I know of '96-early '98s that have had them replaced.

I think that $85K for Brians '98 is a fair & reasonable asking price.

I just did the researd on the guide issue - I found the following information on this forum that you all might find useful.

    ******

    Subject F355 Valve Guides:

Starting from assembly #27689 all 355 Engines are equipped from the factory with new Valve guides, which are manufactured with Sintered Steel instead of Bronze.

    New updated part numbers are:
    Intake Guide #176437
    Exhaust Guide #176438
Note: will need new style Guide Installer.

The assembly number is located in the engine compartment/Plate and I have seen some very early 98's with lower numbers.
Also out of many sub-27689 355's I service only one has had a leakdown problem and it was a Street/track car and had went through two sets of Exhaust Manifolds under warranty and the last time the owner ran the car for sometime with a blown exhaust manifold knowing he was going to do a Valve Job {FNA BO on Manifolds at the time}. Also note that most the cars I service were purchased new or low miles and ran Swepco 306 Engine oil and Swepco 503 Fuel Additive.

My friend has a stunning one owner 96 GTB for sale. Red/Tan with approx. 7K miles. He has owned since new. Has had very recent major service, updates, compression check, leakdown test, new tires, etc. He has window sticker, and he installed a K40 radar detector/scrambler in the car.

It is a very nice car. He is asking around $80K, but he will negotiate. Anyone who has a serious interest please PM me and I'll give you his phone number.

    Mike

P.S. I am NOT a broker or in the car business. I receive no compensation from this except helping a friend, and helping a buyer get a stand up car.

I agree. I am just saying that people seem to see "95" and think "valve guide = bad". And if the car is a '96 they think they are not affected. And if the guides have been replaced they don't care. Makes no sense.
    I agree.

I am confused. I thought you could have the guides replaced and therefore good as new? Is there somthing I am missing? How much would it cost to replace the guides?
