They did it for Senna and Prost back in the 80's soo its not like its anything new for them. Id still prefer a Schumie/Rossi lineup tho.
If marlbros colours were not red and white lets say yellow and green would ferrari change the paint of there cars from red?
No. Just wondering, how long have you been watching F1 and do you consider yourself to be fairly familiar with the history of F1?
No, Ive been into F1 for about 4 years and havent looked into any of the history. Is there something i should know.
In the 80's, McLaren (F1) and Penske (CART) were both sponsored by PM. They were painted in a way that is unmistakable for anything else. If you go further back in F1 history, you will also notice that there is significant relationship between a team and its colors, more specifically, nation of origin. As in, red (Alfa Romeo, Maserati, Ferrari, FIAT, & Lancia) = Italy, green (Jaguar, Lotus, & Aston Martin) = GB, blue (Renault & Pugeot)= France, silver (MB & Audi) = Germany and white (Honda & Toyota) = Japan etc. In modern day racing, with the complications of sponsorships etc., it has became necessary for each team to adopt other colors but their base color will never change. The so call "privateer" teams tends to be more flexible on this as well, as in McLaren and William does not have a set color per say and will tend to use their engine partner's or sponsor's as per request. Needless to say, none of this is written in stone but this traditional is likely to be preserved if possible. I would say that it is unlikely for Ferrari to paint their cars with any other base color other than red and if PM felt so strongly about their own colors (if they are not of red and white), then it is likely that they wouldn't have partnered with Ferrari in the first place. PS: PM/Malboro has been sponsoring Ferrari for a long, long time. They may not have been the title sponsor but they have always been one of the sponsors since at least the 80's.
Do you smoke? Marlboro's(or any tocbacco company/product) come in more than one colour. Reds, yellow/gold, green. Soo realistically they could use any of those 3 colours. Soo if they were yellow and green like u suggested, u can assume they had a product in red and white as well. Anyway there is alot of cigarette companies esp in the 80's and if Marlboro was really yellow/green, would Ferrari pick them as a sponser? or pick a cigarette company with similar colours........ We have to look at it from an 70's-80's point of view not a 00's point of view. One time Mclaren had their cars painted Yellow and white under the Marlboro banner another time with light blue... its all to do with marketing Ferrari has had 2 races that werent red(during Enzo's reign). 1 race they were in blue and white colours cant remember the other one. Soo if Enzo changed it anything is possible...
