Is anyone going to this event in April? I plan on attending. I've never been to Monaco and just like advice on definite must-dos and places to see in Monte Carlo. I also posted with the same title in the Europe section. Thanks!

BTW...would one of the mods please move this thread to off-off topic. Sorry, didn't mean to post in the Lambo section.

I'd love to attend that show someday! I read somewhere that almost none of the cars are locked, so you can walk right up to an SLR or something, swing the door open, and see if you fit in :).

Is that really true? At first I was skeptical, but in a place like Monte-Carlo it seems those types of cars are commonplace.

My best friend lives in Monaco, so I make a point of going over two or three time s a year (..and always during F1 week). The Marque show is, I believe, only two years old. I haven't been to it yet, but my friend (a diehard cynic) told me that it was much better than he anticipated. Monaco is a great place, although hideously expensive...! The best place to eat/atmosphere is 'Stars and Bars', next to the harbour. The mexican down below the Grand Hotel is also very good. Avoid the 'expensive' French resteraunts....the food isn't that great, and they rip you off on price. The other resteraunt I would definately eat at is the 'Le Pinet'. It is about a 10 minute taxi from Casino square, on the waterfront and has the most fantastic fresh seafood. Great atmosphere too. Another 'must do' venue is the Columbus hotel (owned by David Coulthard, F1 driver). It has a great atmosphere, and a fantastic resteraunt. Hope this helps. Have a great time if you are going.....but do try and go during F1 week....nothing beats that!

Thanks! My trip is booked, I've got VIP access to the event and I'll actually be staying at Columbus so funny you mentioned it. This makes me look forward to it even more since I didn't have any feedback on the hotel and was just booking based on what I liked.

The F1 event will have to be next year...

I'm actually considering flying over there for a few days! Does anyone happen to know what the normal tickets cost? You can find pictures of last year here. I think those were taken by an Fchatter, but I'm not sure.

Oh, and I agree Stars'n'Bars is great :)

Northwest Airlines has the best rates I've been able to find so far. Or you can try www.kayak.com
Orbitz, Expedia, Travelocity aren't offering very competitive prices, they're up in the $800 to $1000's range for the days I'm going in April. But I guess it all depends on when you'll be going.

I'll definitely have to check out Stars'n'Bars now!

I wasn't talking about plane tickets, but about the tickets for the show itself :) I can fly up and down from Belgium for about 150€. I found out the price of the regular tickets in the meantime. For the intrested: it's 29€ per person/per day, and that includes a copy of the official catalogue.

How's Louix XV, which is suppose to be the "premier restaurant" of Monaco? Pretty cool your friend lives in Monaco. How does he like it?

Avoid the Louis.....especially if your American. They hate all of us..!! My friend actually hates Monaco. A very strange place to live. Much like a benign police state. He tolerates it because he likes the tax avoidance, as he was originally from London. He sets up people in offshore accounts....very lucrative!! I quite like to visit, and F1 week is a blast....great atmosphere. Don't bother trying to economise.....even the cheap places are expensive. Go there expecting to break the budget....you will. One of the best pastimes is to get a seat at the coffee shop across the street from the Hotel deParis, and watch the procession of exotic cars...and exotic people. A walk around the circuit is also very nice in the evenings....especially after dinner at the Stars and Bars. Have fun.

What about the nightlife? Would anyone have suggestions for hot spots to hit?

Is it really that strange? Does seem weird, but never hear about it. I would take London over Monaco any day. :D

Look out for a white Murcielago roadster with white wheels, saw it at the casino square at new year. There will be most is not every supercar you can think of over there, it is just awesome but i would have to admit, would be a wird place to stay permanently, not really too much to do!
