Marion and I are flying into Austin on May 7th, arriving at 3:55 and will be heading to two properties to look at and meet the agent. After we will check into the Hyatt Regency in Downtown. The next morning we will check out some more the area and by mid day head towards San Antonio. So far nothing planned there. We are staying at the Marriott Riverwalk for the night and fly back Sunday afternoon from San Antonio.
I hope we can hook up with some real estate agents in San Antonio as well to look at some income properties. Lets see.

Love to hear dinner sugestions and maybe a tip or two where to go and what to see.

Martin, give me some time to look at the calendar some more. This is the weekend after Keels and Wheels. But, we should be able to rustle up some tour guides for you and your sweetie. Will you have a rental car? What kind of food do you like? More later.

martin, tell me which props you're looking at there adn I'll ask my biz partner who is from austin what he thinks. I think I know where you're getting them and I know your price range so I'll see which ones are being offered if I dont here from you.

I'd come down, but my birthday and mothers day are that weekend.

    Martin,

Not sure if you are looking for suggestions in Austin or SA, so here goes:

    For Austin
There is a classice Austin Tex Mex place called Matt’s El Rancho.
For fun head down to 6th St. Lots of bars, jazz clubs, etc.

    For San Antonio

For fine dining go to Bigas on the Bank. Very good, very nice, and very expensive.

For fun go to Dick’s Last Resort on the River. Great place for beer, good food and lost of fun. Last time I was there everyone got into a huge paperwad fight.

    Hope this helps.

    Nick

What about Carlos n Charlies in Austin at the lake? Might like that and Lake Travis looks like the ocean with its limestone bottom.

I ate at Bigas on the Bank last time I was in SA. It was pretty good, but I was on an expense account!

Got to agree w/ Alan, the Oasis is the place to go in Austin if you've never been. Sit on the deck, have dinner and a margarita, then after the sun sets head to 6th Street.

The Hula Hut on Lake Austin is a pretty good second choice, and it's a lot closer.

Both are pretty touristy, but you ARE tourists!

You'll get all the help you need here in big Tex. Restaurant suggestions & even some feedback on your interested property. Are you starting a dealership in TX? Or are you moving to TX?

Why don't you just extend the visit to Dallas?

I went to Hula Hut Thursday night and after waiting 80 minutes for a table I left. The view is better than the food and I'd had enough of the view by then.

The best Mexican food in Austin is at Enchiladas y Mas on Anderson Lane. I also like Fonda San Miguel for upscale and Guerro's Taco Bar on SoCo for downscale.

The best sushi is in the Warehouse district at Kenichi. 6th Street is for college age kids and the older folks hang out on 4th.

Lake Travis has lots of neat places to eat and check out the scenery. I like Carlos N Charlies and the Oasis is always fun to get a drink at and watch the sunset. Fins is floating on the water and usually has a live band and lots of nice boats tied up.

    Wow! I love Austin!!

    Keeping it weird,
    Kelly

Driskill Grille at the Driskill hotel in Austin(chef is one of 10 upcoming young chefs in Food and Wine or one of those mags), La Reve in SA on river.
Biga in SA has nice food, but service blows every time I go there.
4Seasons in Austin has nice restaurant too. Silo in SA is in iffy neighborhood, but food is great. PM if you need details.

Guys thanks a lot for all the suggestions.

I will be coming in to check out property that some of you have looked at for me already. Thanks again for doing that.

No, I will not be moving. No, no more loss-revenue businesses, so no more dealerships :)

Just found out I will be in Houston May 26th to the 30th for the FIABCI world congress.

Well, give a shout out, when the date gets closer!!!!

I'm going to retire to Austin to run a topless parasail business at Lake Travis.

We're gonna use a long enough rope to reach the deck at the Oasis as we go by!!!!

Sorry to disagree with you, but I conside Mat's el Rauncho to be one of the worse Mexican food places anywhere....my opinion.

Excelent places to eat in and around Austin:

    Cienna: loop 360 and 2222
    Jeffrey's: west loop
    Hudsen's on the bend
    Fonda san Muguel
    Ruth's Chris steak house
    Dan McLuskies

What about the Crown & Anchor? I haven't been there in years but they had the best veggie burger I ever had.

Had dinner at UCHI last night. Very, very good asian/sushi.
Take it from me, I know. BTW saw a very handsome red 348 ts. Could be my next car, next year. I'll be back in florida tomorrow night. Bring a sweater for the nights.

Thanks to y'all for the tips.
We came into Austin late and walked around in the warehouse district to get some food. Passed by the Sushi place but I did not feel like sushi. Had some ribs Texas style.

Saw the capitol the next day and drove through New Braunfels on our way to San Antonio. New Braunfels had to be a stop since my parents live in Braunfels in Germany, the town New Braunfels was found on.

San Antonio we walked to famous Riverwalk. Ended up eating along the River. Marion picked a restaurant that was horrible mexican food. She was so disgusted with the food she even told the poor waitress who you could tell was embarassed to bring such food before we even complained. Juck.

Visited the Alamo today and looked at some more property. In total we have 3 in San Antonio now that we will negotiate on. Lets see.

We both loved San Antonio. Very ncie city and some nice neighborhoods as well. Has some great potential and some awesome old homes that need restoration.

Thanks again. I hope I can return the favor for you guys in Miami.

    Martin
