Does anyone have a photo of the Marzotto Ferrari spider special that ran in the Targa Florio that look like it was cobbled up from old coke signs? I think it was a 166 or 212 I think it was mainly silver and yellow and had a shark's mouth logo on it or something like that. Color photos would be GREATLY appreciated...

Jeff, yes it is. Interestingly, this car was later rebodied by Vignale into a "standard" Vignale spyder before being handed over to Fontana once again to be transformed into this:

Quote from Classic and Sports Car years ago after a guess the pic quiz :

"In fact, "our" car was based upon the 2.6-litre Ferrari 212 Export Lungo chassis "0165EL" which was displayed in bare but highly polished and plated form within the marine section of the 1951 Earl's Court motor show. It was bought by or through Leslie Hawthorn's TT Garage of East Street, Farnham and bodied by local coachbuilder E.D.Abbott of Wrecclesham. Abbott's were capable of quite handsome if always sober work, but this horror emerged in two-tone pearl-escent grey with scarlet upholstery and a walnut dash."

Below a pic if this car as it is today, living in Australia.

Mr Boudewijn - Thanks for the pictures of 0165E.

I wonder what "substances" the designers were using when they came up with that design.

I'm not sure of the proper adjectives but "unique" is definitely one of them.

Does the car still exist as such?

Hey Chris - I saw that car at Hershey - 1980 as I recall. I think it was done by Fly Studio and the workmanship was most impressive.
I wouldn't be ashamed to drive it - in fact, I'd love the opportunity!
    Bob Z.

By the way, did you check out the "barn car" yet?
