The car is based heavily on the Enzo Ferrari, sharing the same Ferrari Dino V12 engine with slight modifications, the same gearbox (but renaming it Maserati Cambiocorsa) and the same chassis and track (length of axle between the wheels).[7] The Maserati MC12 has its own bodywork which is wider, longer and slightly taller leaving the windshield as the only externally visible component shared with the Enzo.[1] This extra size allows for greater downforce across the whole body, adding to that of the two metre spoiler.

basically a lot of little things that add up into a lot of changes.

The core of the chassis is the same but the MC 12 has a cleverly added section that increases the Wheel Base which makes it much more suited for endurance racing and creating more downforce with less drag.

The engine is gear driven on the MC12, chain driven on the Enzo

I have had both cars and while similarly based, they are dramatically different in many ways. The Enzo is much quicker, much more responsive(at least at lower speeds), and generally just more manageable on the road.
The MC 12 is really big, is difficult from a visibility standpoint, but has incredible sound(gear driven). While I have not experienced it, the MC-12 is fantastic on the track.
Both cars are visually beautiful but again different. From the way the doors open, to the removable tops on the MC-12, to the flow and overall size they have very unique characteristics.
For my purposes, street use, the Enzo is much more practical if you can use that word for a Ferrari supercar. For someone inclined to take there toys to the track, the MC-12 would probably be the way to go.
