The internet community is fine, but companies that do not have a large internet Prescence have been modifying and Tuning Ferraris for decades. Let's not discredit the work of people running small and large size operations without evidence.
Also, I will just be frank.....there are partnerships that are in place that are not disclosed on these message boards. Not pointing fingers .
Kent, Why block or limit your chat profile page?....from what i have gathered, from Fchat threads, facebook message boards, and members here, that it seem you are working with 360tev to promote the business. Care to explain the relationship?
I like Trevor. I work in a different industry and live on a different continent and have no other connection to him. I often promote people that have done a good job for me, but I have no connection to him either personally or professionally. Very weird that you would try to make a nefarious connection between me and him. One thing you know is my real name. If I were trying to hide something, I'd never use my real name. Kind of weird how you are stalking me now. Trevor did the tune on my 430 conversion and that is the extent of my relationship with him.
Not stalking......I'm not the only one to notice. I belong on the same facebook 430 page and something smells funny.
I invite you to go on that FB group and ask the members if I have a business relationship with Trevor. Ask for anyone that has talked to me through messenger about the conversion process, what their experience was etc. and whether they think I have a personal or business relationship with the tuner that EAG uses. Are you for real?! Better yet, ask Art Bartosik or anyone on his team whom were in my garage when he handed me the phone to talk to Trevor about my modifications and whether I wanted x or y. I don't even have the dude's phone number. Your behavior is very odd to me and concerning.
Nope, Art is a convicted felon. why would I take his word. Yes, convicted ! I really don't care. Your actions dictate your bias.
I don't like dishonest people. They tend to hang with each other......case in point. people and their relationships with Art Bartosik Also, calling me mentally ill is against forum rules.
I'm not responding to you further. I don't think its productive and I don't feel you stalking me all across the internet (and this is only possible because I use my real name) and accusing me of colluding with someone I don't even know personally or professionally is healthy or productive for either of us. I'm out.
Oh dear another big drama... Lets get this cleared up shall we... Flea7, I think your reading far too much into one guys posts and intentions, IMHO he's really happy with his recently converted Gate F430. I, nor AV have got any business dealings at all with Kent and never had any. Ziltch, nada, none. I've never met him and don't even know him. I did speak to him once on the phone when EAG sold him a tune, that's it, he had some technical questions about what was possible, he seemed like a passionate Ferrari owner and that's all I can say. As you'll probably know, he's a direct customer of EAG. Yes he's written about his story on here. Kent had his F430 live converted online and yes as part of that conversion he's ended up inadvertently getting the AV personalized tune (done remotely by them over the internet using AV's own developed custom technology, a cloud based internet engine software upgrade tool that's licensed out to all affiliates). This is actually something than no else has yet as far as I'm aware and something that will be getting further developed and released as to the "public" version very soon now granting people access to many cool new free features and phone app controls, very cool stuff that's quite revolutionary and we are very excited about it, for instance how many 360's have you seen with selectable realtime maps or switchable valet modes? So in summary there are no shady deals behind smoked glass windows with men smoking cigars in black shades plotting to take over the world or anything like that.. The fact he is defending the work is quite simple to me, many people bash EAG and Art yet they've done over 100 cars by now, its true they've not always got everything right and mistakes do happen but overall there are many more happy customers than unhappy ones. I get it, the forums often amplify just a few voices of people and the silent majority don't get involved. Kent is clearly just a passionate, happy customer, nothing more sinister than that. EAG, like most trying to do gated conversions eventually realized how hard it is to get reliable gated conversions to work for "ALL" car firmware versions across all models variants and geographies, its not so easy as some people would believe. Pretty much everyone doing conversions is now using my software or a variant of it (some preferring to use a free re-compiled from my open source git repository version and some a licensed release from AV) to get the gated side of it done. For instance there are more than 18 *versions* of firmware just for the '99 MY of 360's and so doing it by reverse engineering it by hand is simply not economically viable.
Sounds copacetic Trev...but I not that easily convinced. Although I am a member of the f430 owners facebook page I rarely visit it and I wasn't the one who brought up Kent's name that he was on there defending you on a problematic recent transaction. To be honest, I find that how you promote your business here on Fchat in the last year or so to be aggressive. You may or may not put him up to it but to slander another company without any knowledge is unacceptable to me and I called him out. Later on ...I receive messages and calls to who he was. I never looked him up or "stalked" him. Calling me mentally ill and going on another thread to talk trash about me tells me how he operates. Including EAG and Art is just fuel to the fire. I don't care how many cars he converts. What I do know is that he has F'ed people in the past and people to start what he has now. He is a convicted felon. If you want records and arrest pictures I can provide them but it's available if you search. That's who you're are doing business with. The title project master give you a rossa sub. for life I believe ...but I don't think it give you the right to advertiser you business without being a sponsor. I think you're dancing on that line.
Flea7, I don't use FB or IG anymore. I don't know how involved you are or if you even understand how "tuning" works or if you yourself have vested interest but let me explain some facts here so people get a clearer picture as you have little idea of my motivations. Sadly this thread has gone way off topic and I am sorry for that in advance... First and foremost I have in fact published the full freely downloadable, functional source-codes to SAK tool and many tuners are using it now on 360 ecm firmware for FREE, some even incorporating it into their own tools which is great to see, innovation is rarely accidental, conditions need to be in place to allow it to flourish. You can go on github now and download it and use it. What's the significance? Well it gave professional tuners and technically minded hobbyists a legal fast track (you cannot tune what you cannot find!) and many free features including all the checksum functionality, and the ability to find most of the important calibrations and maps without having access to illegally leaked A2L or Damos files, the majority of which just don't exist in the Ferrari world. Some people have even reached out to me to thank me and let them know they've used my tools to create their own custom tunes. Great! If I'd been purely financially driven I wouldn't have given this away freely, this and helped everyone else out to benefit from my hard work including many tuners. Those important informational data's required to tune all the different versions of the firmware, well they never ever got leaked because Ferrari is in the business of F1 and knows how to keep secrets. Actually only one file ever got leaked that I'm aware of and that wasn't even via Ferrari but indirectly via another brand. All the tuners start with that file and then realize quickly its very unlikely to match well with what they dumped from the actual car. Doh! My tool corrects this situation and I gave it away on a free permissive license, a "do whatever you want with it commercial terms are all ok" kind hoping it would promote more interest from Tuners in the area to "up their game" on Ferrari's. Lets see things move fast! AV Engineering got involved because I had a personal relationship with them first and foremost (they service and have helped me tonnes over the years with my project 360, etc.) and I was happy to get them involved due to their huge amount of engineering experience and vast knowledge of the cars (including Ferrari Maranello Factory trained technicians) to help assist with working out what is it that they need out of such tools to help reduce costs of maintenance for all owners. For example what are the common faults that they struggled with, e.g. lack of ABS units, Cat ECU's or Immobilizers failing, etc. They also had lots of cars for me to get all the firmware images I needed to test the software during the early days and this helped a lot. They got back in exchange a lot of new "deep knowledge" about how inside the ECM's decisions where being made and information being hidden from "high level" tools like SD3 and they could now finally develop and fix issues that had blighted 360's for decades such as the "Cold start" misfire bugs of the original firmware, we worked together to develop fixes for this kind of issues that simply have nothing to do with traditional "tuning". There are several thousand parameters available in these ecu's and a dealer level diagnostic tool of that vintage is pretty "crude" of that era, even the factory tools are very much a tiny subset of whats available (and useful) to "repair" rather than "replace" on these cars long into the future without the mindset of throw away. See where this is going? Keeping all our cars on the road with lower operating costs and better personalization. This goes significantly beyond any Ferrari tuner ever spent time to thinking about it, its much more subtle than just adding a bit more power. I actually wanted to unlock the Ferrari deadlock. This is a situation where very little R&D was ever done in the Ferrari world because the market was too small for the investment in time required to make economical sense. Lets just wind back a bit further still, I spent the best past of 5 years of my life now to understand exactly how Bosch Motronic firmware worked, at such a detailed level (sorry that's just how I'm wired) and this yes has been a struggle and at times I've wanted to give up but I didn't. Thousands of man hours spent so whatever "business" you think is going on pales into significance. Actually this was an extension of the frustration I felt with doing my 360 "Project car" (you know the one I got project status you called out as I got over 250,000 views on it) but not being able to make it "oem perfect" to my exact demands, well that sucked. I hated the lock-in power that all this proprietary software gave a small number of vendors and none of the tuners could do exactly what I wanted. I wrote the entire end to end, all the tools to reflash the ecu's, access and virginize eeproms, find all the maps, edit the maps, realtime datalog, realtime map edit, the lot. This is software engineering, its a different thing altogether. Think of it a different way, when Bosch give up what happens after supplies of legacy ecus run out? What happens when YOUR Ferrari ecu's are NLA. Your ABS unit goes 'kaput' and is NLA? Yes both 360 and F430 ABS cannot be bought new from Ferrari. How long till this happens for other models? We aren't very far off this point right now, and some people have been quoted as much as $10,000 by main dealers to rip it all out and "no guarentee's" it will fix the issues. That a huge concern and I can easily see in the future 360's being written off due to NLA ecu's problem. Remember that I started ALL of this activity on ECM's not through being bored, I have plenty of things to be getting on with but out of "necessity", a good friend of mine who at the time owned a Challenge Stradale was very disappointed. His CS had long time immobilizer issues, he'd spent time hauling his car between main dealers and specialists, none of them could solve it even after throwing many thousands in diagnostics and parts. I helped him remove the system and it worked fine ever since. There are also bugs in the firmware that I've corrected and things are very differently configured (even sensor and wiring differences) across model years hence why you cannot just hope to use "any old" firmware on any 360, etc. what you call my "aggression" is actually something different, its my passion to make these cars lower cost to maintain, to ensure there is always a cost effective way to repair them in the future. I'm even half done making my own KiCad remake of the ecu's now (just incase I need to re-manufacture them) when the supplies eventually run out and one thing I would definitely be doing then is relocating those 360 ecu's with a harness adapter right back inside the cabin... Image Unavailable, Please Login Repairing a "Ticking Throttle body" ecu requires a lot of work to understand it...
As a consumer, I’m very interested to know the differences. I can imagine each may have fundamental tuning philosophy differences (powerband focus, reliability, peripherals, etc) but is there one that gives you “more”? For example, immobilized delete. I have followed Trev for quite some time and all the in-depth analysis of SAK from immobilized inception to now. His knowledge is probably higher than 99.9% of people out there and on the other hand, I have read many positive reviews or MASE, and while he may not post directly here, I have no doubt his knowledge base is extensive as well. Which is why I’m trying to understand the fundamental differences in each. Would be great to get same car with baseline and then both tunes and comprehensive review!
Trev, Again, I don't think you get the point. Read the title of this thread. It's highjacked again to promote you and your business...yes business. Do you not get this? You also did this on the scud pricing thread. It had no relevance there. For example, If you had a group buy thread on your software and a bunch of mase customer came in as trolls and said ...."trev probably used mase tunes and data for his tunes. I would buy mase." I don't think you would take kindly to it. RIGHT? Is this over your heads as to how inappropriate it is???
That was my speculation and Trev is not responsible for what I write. I have no proof of my suspicion and regret saying it considering the drama around it. I have no regret recommending Trev for a 360 or 430 tune though. I have heard nothing negative about Mase. I have full confidence in Trev because he's given the community so much back and helped so many people for FREE. Because of this, I have a lot of confidence in his credibility. I looked over the thread and the very first response was someone recommending Trev. The original poster was also curious about Trev and his tunes and work. I first responded to someone asking about 360Trev tunes, so that is how I got involved and offered my first hand experience. Mase has a good fan base as does Trevor. Lastly, to reiterate, Trevor is not responsible for what I write nor my opinions and he shouldn't be obligated to answer for either. You like Mase, I like Trev. Let's leave it at that and move forward. I've now stated my regret in speculating on something I have no first hand knowledge of and I'm hopeful you'll accept that. We're all enthusiasts here, let's try to get along.
Agree that this should move to another thread. I think you've still not understood where this is going so I will explain more in a different thread. Couple of final points to make here is that the work I've done is actually considered complementary to any actual work on calibration done by Steve (or anyone else), my solution support multiple maps ( real-time switchable which the original firmware did not ), yes AV have done their own rival tunes too but nothing stops you having both on the same car, just like different driving modes on newer cars. For instance I've had some people who've had their cars tuned by Steve but I've done other work on such as gated conversion (like the famous gated Scud) and instant torque firmware code patches, etc. to remove throttle lag that wasn't possible to just calibrate out. I've got Steve's number, he's got mine. I'm pretty sure once he see's my "Dyno live tuning with real time visual data logging" and "Tuner Protection" [which stop unauthorized copying of maps] (coming very soon) he'll be using these too and everyone benefits...
Trev, I'm not saying that you're not great in what you do. I think I expressed my admiration for your passion on a PM in the past. Its not mase vs trev. I just think there is a proper way of doing things. Have a nice day gents!
