>I have collected the production figures for almost all Maserati models. For the 228 I have the following numbers: 228i: production years 1987-1993, 464 cars built. 228 carburettors: up to 3 cars built as one-off prototypes between 1985 and 1986. European cars for the Italian, UK and some other markets were non-cat until 1990, and had 250HP. All US-bound cars plus Swiss cars were only ever sold with cats, 225HP. The carburetted prototypes (the first, white car was presented to the press in 1985) allegedly had 255HP but I have never seen one, don't even know if they still exist.
