My US-publisher just finished editing. But I think we can`t do it for X-mas. I assume we are out in April or May 2008. About 360 pages. Each chassis-by-chassis and the individual history and race-list.

And here is a photo I took some years ago of Bill Binnie, one of the very few US-historic racers who really can drive. Its his car, chassis #3069 and the location is the same as of the Fisken-#3082-pic.

Yes, #3055 and #3059 were sold by the factory to Australian customer after Begra and Moss drove them there in 1956! Butcherd and in bad condition both cars came back to EU were successfull restoration got them back to former glory!

thats crap the leach brother car was a long term 3 owner car whom the previous owner raced with much success and maintained to factory specs. The Bob Jane car was also a long term car that was well restored buy the late Jim Shepherd (Porsche Australia at the time authoroized repair centre. What about the Reg Hunt car that he was the 2nd owner for more the 25 years?

You are talking about #3063. Forgot that car (soooorry!)! In fact Reg Hunt was the 3rd owner - but he was the best custodian for it! It was a great car but when I see the car on old photos with Bordoni (1st. owner) driving it and then in AUS I clearly see some differences that came on the car down under!

Please note that the quality of restorations in those days can`t be compared with standarts today - and I am not talking about that silly Pebble-Beach-standarts!

Also when those cars underwent restorations in the 70ies/early 80ies much of the parts were unobtainable and machining was much different then today.

I have photos of the Leach-brothers car (#3055) that clearly documents the somewhat lousy restoration. The car had to be done again when it came to the UK! Below are some photos of #3055 when it arrived in the UK. Any comments...???

The Bob Jane (#3059) car was converted by him to a coupe!!! Later it was re-converted in AUS. When the car was bought by its current owner in the early 90ies, they found tons of filler "papped" on it and the mechanical standart was more or less "worn out"! Definitely not a good restoration it was ....!

Nice that you call my comments "crap"! I investigated ALL 300S`s during the last 5 years, had numerous conversations with the today leading 300S-restorers (one of them alone restored 5 cars!), their current- and ex-owners, drove some of them and wrote a book about those great cars, chassis-by-chassis that will come out next year. So, we`ll see.......!

    Ciao!

fair call,I was going on when Doug owned the car and early times of the Leach brothers(thay lived by the sea) and drove the car often to the shopping centres. As for the Jane car I'm suprised by your comments, but the car sat ideal for many years doing his car dealerships. But when i saw it in late '70s it looked fantastic, maybe the gloss was hiding the bogg ect.Re the Hunt car Reg raced it in historics in the mid '70s? in order to fit current spec Dunlops Reg had the rear wheel arches flared or widened out. Please post more Photos of 300S.Do you know where the other ex South American John Sheppard 300s is? regards Rob Bailey.

Robert, have a look on the Bob Jane car (#3059) after its "GT-conversion" to race it in the GT-class. He was always driving like mad and it was a really hard time for the car, that is one of the most important of all 300S`s as it won the 1000 km Nuerburgring with Moss and Behra in 1956.
