Frank, no, I don`t think so! This cars cannot be jugded on their own merit and compared to the original! When someone picks up the inspiration from something it MUST be compared with that! In particular when the original is very well known. If you try to copy your own version of the Mona Lisa -believe me- it will be compared with Leonardos masterpiece! We can discuss this over and over again - But nothing can beat the Real Thing! Ciao! Walter (my 3 Lira!) photo credit: Thierry Lesparre Image Unavailable, Please Login
i had never seen the Albert Park crash and found this photo. Have you seen the video of a Albert Park period race with the 300s and 250fs in ?
Dear Herr B. I for one have spent more than 15K USD on spare parts (JUST SOME PARTS) for my 3500 GT restoration, and I haven't even taken a thing off the car, and I still have more to buy!!! I think 3500 GT owners may have been "cheap" in the past, but not today. Ciao!
My experiance(s) told me different. OK, not with you. Also, 15,000 $ in spares are nuttin`in a restoration. Ciao! Walter
Correct - but the very good history of this car did not happen Down Under! #3056 won the 1000 km Nuerburgring in 1956 and the Bari GP the same year. It also has Targa Florio- Giro di Sicilia- and Mille Miglia-history on its credits! Ciao! Walter
maybe, but it did run second to Moss at the Australian TT in front of 80,000 people!Over 100 miles with several Ferrari and 2 Jaguar D-types behind them.
Correct, but this Ferraris and Jags were private entries. At the `Ring were 150,00 people and they won against the entire Ferrari equipe including Fangio and Castellotti Not to mention Gendebien, De Portago, and Peter Collins and Tony Brooks with the factory team of Aston Martin and Hawthorn and Titterington in a D-Type! The Moss/Begra-victory in the TT was not a very difficult one. Also the Australian TT was never part of the Sports Car Worldchampionship. Ciao! Walter
Hi Walter, have you ever heard the story that the mechanics liked Jean more then Moss and that he got the better car? It was a story that followed the 2 cars for years. What did you think of the Hunt car and its condition when Reg sold it?
Hey Walter, You seem like the man to ask about this. I recently saw Jon Shirley's 300S, and was wondering the s/n? I had never really seen or payed attention to these before then, but now they are one of my favorite cars ever. They are absolutely beautiful from every angle, and they sound just as good as they look.
